Since Bannanawaffles has been re-creating all the pre-release patch templates and adding the changes onto pages, I felt I should bring this issue up again. In the past, these templates have not existed and the patches have not been listed because they were beta patches, and therefore aren't included for the same reason we don't include any other changes that happened on Beta or PTR realms. My personal feeling is that we should continue to not list them, but since it's not actually codified anywhere that I can see I wanted to get opinions from other people so we can try and make an actual decision. --Dark T Zeratul (talk) 20:11, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

I don't mind when it's vanilla WoW. This is almost like archeology. I agree that PTR patches are not interesting though. Xporc (talk) 20:17, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
I agree with DTZ. Changes that were made prior to WoW's release should not be listed because nothing was "live" at that point. There are already article pages for the pre-release patch notes themselves for those who are curious. -- Alayea (talk / contrib) 21:12, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
Agreed. Mordecay (talk) 21:17, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
Hmm, while I can see why you feel that way, I must say I find it quite interesting too see those old notes. I personally think, that the vanilla beta patches differ from the ones after release in the way that the old ones had "real" patch numbers, and not just build numbers. On the other hand you might say, that if I wanted to check the old patch notes, I could just check the pages for the beta patches. But then I also think that if I'm already looking up a removed spell, or a current one for that matter, to me it kinda seems like hiding the beta patch note, by not having it there, as there'll be nothing to indicate the original changes. That being said, I agree that ptr notes and beta notes from TBC and forward shouldn't be added in the "patch changes" section. I'm also fairly certain I've seen the 0.6. template used here and there over the last few years. But regardless, it's a good idea to address the issue. PeterWind (talk) 22:53, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
I am ambivalent toward it. On the one hand, they are not live notes. On the other hand, what does it really hurt? Pre-release World of Warcraft is something of a special case. Aliok (talk) 21:03, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
