I think it would be very interesting and succesful if wowpedia becomes an "multilingual wowpedia", just like de Wikipedia. Instead of having different wikis, it would be best if we have one wowpedia sub-divided and inter-linked in sub-wikis. This would also facilitate the promotion of other hypothetical wowpedias (Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, etc.). I don't know, this service would be superior to the one currently provided by WoWWiki and various separate wikis, wouldn't it?

What do you think? It's an Universal Wowpedia possible?

I think it would be a good idea. I could translate into, and write in Dutch and Esperanto, but I need others to help me with writing articles in especially Dutch and in a lesser extent Esperanto. Therefore http://nl.wowpedia.org and http://eo.wowpedia.org must be created. Hans Kamp (talk) 19:46, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

This is definitely something we'll be getting started in the near future, though I don't know how many wikis will be created nor in which languages. If there is demand for a language to edit in, we will almost certainly create more. We will definitely be importing the wikis on Wikia which people want to edit in, though, so you won't be starting from scratch. :) --Sky (talk) 20:22, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

I think this must be polled to decide what wikis will be imported and revamped within Wowpedia. From my side, i would prefer Spanish, and also i red about the russians wanting to join. Cemotucu (talk) 22:13, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Spanish wow-wiki has the wildest grow rate in the last year. We reached the 3th before English and Russian and the average quality of most of entries is acknowledged by the own Wikia staff who dropped us a line about this. The only problem we have is vandalism, anonymous editions are allowed and veterans usually spend more time trying to fix the mess than improving the content. Hope that in the new wowpedia, rules are sacred and there are manage tools against people who don't follow'em.

Also, multilingual wikis can improve the English edition, detecting wrong links and rewriting old entries. Thas was my principal task in Wikia, add external links section, clear the old format, upload photos, add the interwiki link... all of this was possible because I was working on the spanish and english articles at the same time. Lots of people are working on the new content but only a few check the old info, that could be a nice way to update it.--Petrovic (talk) 23:37, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

I think a multilingual Wowpedia would be a very great thing! Agreed, most people on this planet speak English, so they are able to pull out the information they need from the English Wowpedia. But the thing is with localized Wow clients: In a localized client nearly everything has been translated. Now you're reading some cool stuff about this one paladin ability, and then have to search what ability it could be on your client (compare icons, tooltips, etc.). It gets more difficult when it's about an ability of a class you do not play (e.g. in ICC, hunters should use [Deterrence] to reduce damage done to the raid, but how to explain that to the raid who only know the German name of this ability?).

Up to now I always have to use Allakhazam in parallel, because they also list the localized names of abilities, items and mobs. If I could simply click (or hover) on the "German" link left of every article, this would help me a lot. To achieve this, it would be very important to auto-generate not only the English item pages from Armory, but also the localized ones. Take a look to the Druid talents that we did in Wowiki Spain (link), every talent has their entry clickin on the icons, showing both languages (spanish and english) and the complete tree structure to easily find what someone is looking for. To me is more useful even than wowhead and allakhazam. N.B. the new Wikia skin ruined the templete by the way. --Petrovic (talk) 02:04, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
