(This topic is archived. Please do not edit this page!)

Earlier alpha testing phases have been under a NDA. For the Legion testing, I've yet to hear anyone mention it being under the same restrictions. I've heard a few say that it isn't under a NDA, and none saying that it is. That doesn't mean there couldn't actually be a NDA for it ofcourse. I just haven't been able to find anything official confirming a NDA. All the posts on mmo-champion, and especially wowhead who are endorsed by Blizzard in much the same way that wowpedia is, makes me think that there is no NDA, or that it has been lifted already. But in the end, I can't say for sure.

Have anyone else heard anything about there being a NDA in place for the current testing? I wouldn't want to add stuff that's being covered by a NDA, but if there really isn't one, I don't see the point of waiting either. What are you guys opinions on this matter?

If we can confirm that there is no NDA, then anything currently accessible in the alpha would be fair game to post. Note that this still excludes most datamined information. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 18:38, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Yea, currently the only thing everyone has access to is the demon hunter starting area and that is it. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 04:17, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
There is no NDA. --k_d3 05:33, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Yeah just mailed with someone from Wowhead and they said that to their knowledge, there was no NDA. But as Coobra said, it's ofcourse still pretty limited to what we can actually post, even with no NDA, due to most of the stuff being datamined. And as no one here, I assume, has alpha access, it's hard to tell which datamined files can actually be linked in the current build, we will probably still have to wait with most content. But we can at least start to add stuff related to the demon hunter starting experience. PeterWind (talk) 16:55, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
I have alpha access and so does Aliok if you need something checked out. (And I had been working on the demon hunter starting zone quests prior to the alpha thanks to multiple YouTube sources from BlizzCon 2015, but Gourra deleted them citing DNP policy. I can confirm the quests remain unchanged in the alpha, but I'm not touching it if Gourra's going to give me an admin smackdown.) -- Alayea (talk / contrib) 18:26, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
The key phrase there is "prior to the alpha." Now that it's available, you're free to start creating articles for what's in it. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 18:29, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Like DarkTZeratul said, now that it's available it no longer falls under the do-not-post policy since it's not datamined. --g0urra[T҂C] 18:33, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
So, to be absolutely clear, stream recordings - allowed by Blizzard (the streaming, that is) - of demos at BlizzCon by prominent Warcraft community members do not count? It would seem to me to be okay, considering that the content is being showcased by Blizzard at its own conference. Aliok (talk) 19:20, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Stream recordings are a new edge case for us. We'll probably allow sourcing them if they can be properly archived (and not just a twitch vod), but for now the point is moot since alpha testers have access to the same material.
However, editors should probably not put too much effort into first-look (pre-)alpha content. How much of past expansions' first-shown stuff (mists, warlords...) made it to beta, let alone live? --k_d3 19:46, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Yup, but at least everyone seems to be using the legion stub so we can delete find and delete them in the future more easily. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 00:27, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
A lot of the new legion items seen on Wowhead, are obviously not available in the demon hunter starting experience, but might still be linkable in the alpha test. As i understand it, per the part about datamining under DNP, an item is fair game, so to speak, as long as it can be linked ingame right? PeterWind (talk) 03:23, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
Generally yes, if it links, its good to go. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 03:45, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
