How do I create my own signature? I see people in the discussion pages that put like User:Name etc etc.like that, and I want to make one myself somehow. I want to know how to add the mini-image before it, too. VraulIconTINY.gif Vraul Jawrip (talk · contr) 02:01, 16 May 2009 (UTC))

See Maelstrong's talk page. IconSmall Wolvar.gifBig, furry, and insane (Have a conversation with the homocidal furry!) (Come and stalk me! ...No, wait, please don't.) 02:03, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Also, see Project:Signature. There really is not a guide on Wowpedia for making a custom signature. The (Sadly) best advice I have it to bug people about it.--SWM2448 17:13, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Woot. Somehow got it so that using 4 tildes auto-creates it. User:Bigstackstwo/Sig Err... somehow I re-broke it. VraulIconTINY.gif Vraul Jawrip (talk · contr) 03:13, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I told you what to do on your talk page. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 03:30, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Example custom signature instructions

Borrowed steps from Coobra's instructions to Bigstackstwo.

  1. Make a new subpage under your user page with a name like: User:username/Sig
  2. Put some wikicode for a signature like the following (has image, link to user page, link to talk page, and a link to contributions list):
This is a signature: <onlyinclude> username (talk contribs)</onlyinclude>
    • The page should look like this: This is a signature: IconSmall Cenarian Female.gif username (talk contribs)
    • The signature would only be this: IconSmall Cenarian Female.gif username (talk contribs)
  3. Click "Save page" to save the new page.
  4. At the top right of the screen, click on to my preferences (you may have to click "MORE ▾" button first), go down to signature and place into the textbox, make sure the checkbox labeled custom signature is checked
  5. You should be able to just use the 4 tildes (~) for your signature, which will include the timestamp.

Some other tips:

  • You can get cool little icon images from the following places:
  • If you upload your own image, it's best not to make it more than about 20 to 22 pixels tall.
  • You can use a custom date/time stamp with wikicode like using the #time parser function (if you want to figure out how that works). Put it after your sig code () in preferences.
    • If you use a custom date/time stamp, you should use three tildes (~~~) instead of the standard four (~~~~).
    • The example above outputs a date/time stamp like: 11:07 AM PST 22 May 2009

I feel I should add that you do not have to use the above instructions. There are other ways of doing it. If I were a new user reading that, I would think 'oh cool, that is the way to do it', and in time it may become the new Kirkburn's sig. Project:Signature says how to use and sign with a sig, but there is no guide about signature code on WoWWiki... and there really does not need to be. This is not a 'how to wiki' wiki. Perhaps an external link to one? There is also no solid place to ask how to fix the code in one's sig, but I guess the forums work for that.--SWM2448 19:52, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Good point. I changed the section title to "Example custom signature instructions" to be more accurate. It really is something that could be in a Help page, but as there currently isn't, the forums are a good place to start.--Gengar orange 22x22.pngBeware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:35 PM PST 22 May 2009
Should also be noted that if a sig contains like 4 or more lines of code that after making that unique signature should be placed on a similar place like User:username/SigX and then follow step 4 from above using instead. This way instead of 4+ lines of code you would have . Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 03:38, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

"it may become the new Kirkburn's sig"?!? Ahem, my signatures are timeless and unbeatable ;) Kirkburn talk contr 13:14, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I was referring to the old problem immortalized in the disclaimer at the top of Ragestorm's talk page.--SWM2448 20:58, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I know ... I just don't think anything could become the new Kirkburn's sig, unless I make it :P Kirkburn talk contr 16:34, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Hm, for some reason my new WoWpedia signature didn't work until I check-marked "Use as Wikitext". Just thought that should be said. BigstackstwoSignature.gif Bigstackstwo (talk · contr) 14:58, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Preferences do not transfer from the old site. You do indeed have to set your signature up again in your preferences.--SWM2448 16:44, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
