Recently a question came up of how to handle user created articles in their userspace for users that are no longer around.

Currently I don't believe we have a guideline or policy about it, but I'm wondering if we're wanting to add to the WW:SD policy or not about this.

For example, if a user hasn't contributed in over 4 years should everything be deleted in their userspace? Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 20:51, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

It all started there. TherasTaneel (talk) 21:12, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
If dead links are the problem, remove the links. Why remove pages? --Pcj (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 21:22, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
I agree. Maybe the user hasn't had any reason to update it, maybe the user has been overseas for four years, maybe other things happen. Also, last I checked, user pages were sovereign land and can contain any information within reason. —EGingell (T|C|F) Treader of Cenarion Circle 21:32, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
Deleting is kinda permanent, and would leave a returning user with few options. Unless we're really hurting for space, or unless they were violating policy, I'd say 'leave em'. Unlink any redlinks, if it helps your OCD, but I don't see abandoned user pages as any kind of problem. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:12, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

Off-topic: wow, I started that discussion ("there") more than four years ago. I wasn't even an admin at the time. Scary. Kirkburn  talk  contr 23:01, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
