Forsaken Vanguards are the shock troops of the Forsaken in the battle against the Gilneas Liberation Front. They can be seen in a number of places in Silverpine Forest and, for a time, the Ruins of Gilneas.
The first time they appear is in the vicinity of Forsaken Forward Command in the Ruins of Gilneas, where they combat the Worgen Rebels in the Northern Headlands. They are only present here until the retreat in 
[5-30] Fall Back!, after which a number of their corpses will litter the ground.
When Ambermill is taken during [5-30] Transdimensional Warfare: Chapter III, they are amassed outside the town, ready to descend upon it.
Many of their corpses are present in Pyrewood Village by the time Lord Godfrey and company escort the player there to combat the forces of the 7th Legion in [5-30] Pyrewood's Fall and related quests. The Cowering Troopers who are still alive can be found inside the various buildings.
Finally, during the final showdown in [5-30] Cities in Dust, they return along with many other NPCs from throughout the storyline and are elites.
