This quest starts the 
[Green Scepter Shard] fork of 
[The Scepter of the Shifting Sands] quest chain to open the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Players must have completed [60] The Charge of the Dragonflights (and thus have neutral or better reputation with the Brood of Nozdormu) before Malfurion Stormrage offers players this quest.
Objectives
Travel to the continent of Teldrassil and find Malfurion's agent somewhere outside the walls of Darnassus.
Description
This is a journey of redemption, hero. Would it be that I was slain today, I would have died for a just and righteous cause. You must recover the green scepter shard. You must cleanse Eranikus of the taint placed upon him by the Old Gods.
Travel to Darnassus. Just outside the city walls you will find one of my agents. This agent will set things in motion for us and inform Tyrande of our plans without alerting Staghelm.
<Malfurion sighs.>
A fall from grace a thousand years in the making...

Completion
The wisp is silent except for a low humming sound. Oddly enough, it is able to communicate with you through thoughts.
Notes
This quest starts in Sunken Temple, in the Shade of Eranikus room. Simply walk up to the shade to spawn Malfurion.
The quest NPC is a wisp (named 
Forest Wisp). It can be found just outside the east gates of Darnassus in Teldrassil[37, 48] proper. Upon leaving the gate, turn left and head up the path to the north. It's just left off the path hidden in a little cul-de-sac.
This is easy for Alliance to do, but Horde will need to venture through the city. As Darnassus is usually mostly empty this shouldn't be a problem, but take 2-3 friends along as company (and for PvP fun).
- Dialogue
- The walls of the chamber tremble. Something is happening...
- Malfurion Stormrage bows.
- Malfurion Stormrage says: Be steadfast, champion. I know why it is that you are here and I know what it is that you seek. Eranikus will not give up the shard freely. He has been twisted... twisted by the same force that you seek to destroy.
- Malfurion Stormrage says: Are you really surprised? Is it hard to believe that the power of an Old God could reach even inside the Dream? It is true - Eranikus, Tyrant of the Dream, wages a battle against us all. The Nightmare follows in his wake of destruction.
- Malfurion Stormrage says: Understand this, Eranikus wants nothing more than to be brought to Azeroth from the Dream. Once he is out, he will stop at nothing to destroy my physical manifestation. This, however, is the only way in which you could recover the scepter shard.
- Malfurion Stormrage says: You will bring him back into this world, champion.
