The death priests[1][2][3] are a group of priests who made up the bulk of the Auchenai.
For 500 years, their duty was to take care of the dead of Auchindoun, but all changed when Exarch Maladaar ordered his death priests to begin practicing necromancy.[4] Years after the defeat of Maladaar and his forces by the adventurers, the Auchenai regained control of Auchindoun. Under the command of the spirit of Exarch Maladaar, now free from his madness, they formed new death priests to fill their ranks and resumed their duty to care for the souls of their kin.[5]
To become a death priest, a special potion would have been made, which allowed the user to see the world of the dead. Many did go mad from it, though.[1]
