Darnassian Protectors can be found patrolling the Cenarion Enclave area of Darnassus.

During the War of the Thorns, they were rallied into the defense against the Horde. When the Horde burned Teldrassil, many of them were caught in fire. Some of them were rescued and brought to Stormwind City.
