Dark Thoughts is a passive level 41 shadow priest ability that grants [Mind Flay] and [Mind Sear] a chance to trigger a Dark Thought on targets affected by the priest's damage over time effects.
When a Dark Thought is triggered, it grants [Mind Blast] an additional charge. This charge can be consumed to instantly cast the ability without interrupting [Mind Flay] or [Mind Sear].
Improvements
The Sepulcher of the First Ones tier set, Habiliments of the Empyrean, features two improvements to Dark Thoughts:
- Darkened Mind (2-set): Casting [Devouring Plague] has a 40% chance to grant Dark Thought. Casting [Searing Nightmare] has a 25% chance to grant Dark Thought.
- Living Shadow (4-set): Consuming a Dark Thought causes your shadow to animate after a moment, dealing (125.4% of Spell Power) Shadow damage over 6 sec to all enemies within 10 yards of your target.
Notes
- Only one Dark Thought can be active at a time. Dark Thoughts do not stack.
- If a Dark Thought is not consumed within the 10 second duration, the additional charge will disappear when the buff fades.
Patch changes
- Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Removed.
- Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Added.
