Trivia
- Technically, this ability has a rank 3 for Protection but no rank 2.
- Consecration is a basic Paladin spell in Hearthstone. The flavor text reads: "Consecrated ground glows with Holy energy. But it smells a little, too."
Patch changes
- Hotfix (2024-09-06): Fixed an issue causing Consecration's friendly effects to only apply to a single paladin when multiple were grouped together.
- Patch 11.0.2 (2024-08-13): Damage decreased by 10%.
- Hotfix (2024-01-22): Damage increased by 30%.
- Patch 10.2.0 (2023-11-07): Fixed an issue causing misalignment between Consecration and [Mastery: Divine Bulwark].
- Hotfix (2023-08-07):
- Holy: Damage reduced by 25%. This change will also affect PvP combat.
- Retribution: Damage increased by 12%. Does not apply to PvP.
- Patch 10.1.0 (2023-05-02): Tooltip now correctly updates when [Burning Crusade] is talented.
- Patch 10.0.7 (2023-03-21): Fixed an issue that was causing the Consecration debuff to fade from targets prematurely.

- Now learned at level 6 for all paladins (was 15 for Retribution and 32 for Holy and Protection).
- Rank 2 added for Protection at level 18: Damage taken is reduced by 5% while inside your Consecration.
- Rank 3 added for Protection at level 23: Cooldown reduced by 50%.
- Patch 8.1.0 (2018-12-11): Damage increased by 20%.
- Hotfix (2018-07-20): Fixed an issue where [Consecration] occasionally failed to provide its self-buff.
- Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Retribution now gains a +100% damage bonus to Consecration.
- Hotfix (2016-07-25): Fixed a bug that was interrupting player loot windows when Consecration was active.
- Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Now available to all specializations. Mana cost removed.
- Patch 5.2.0 (2013-03-05): Base damage increased by 789%, and now scales less efficiently with attack power by approximately 11%.
- Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Now a Protection specialization ability. Duration reduced from 10 to 9 seconds.
- Patch 4.1.0 (2011-04-26): Now displays different visuals for hostile and friendly players.
- Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Consecrate now lasts 10 seconds but has a 30-second cooldown, and works with Holy Power instead of spell power. Major talent-tree revamps have eliminated many of the talents that formerly improved Consecration's performance. Many of the items that used to affect Consecration no longer have those attributes.
- Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Now scales with attack power and spell power.
- Patch 2.2.0 (2007-09-25): Now properly hits large creatures.
- Patch 2.1.0 (2007-05-22): Corrected a tooltip typo. Low ranks of this ability being cast by high-level players are now being properly penalized.
- Patch 2.0.1 (2006-12-05): No longer a talent in the Holy tree. Consecration is now available to all paladins to train starting at level 20. Additionally, the bonus damage coefficient has been increased on all ranks.
- Patch 1.10.0 (2006-03-28): Fixed problem where occasionally repeated casts of Consecration will not deal damage.
- Patch 1.9.0 (2006-01-03): Consecration has been relocated to the Holy tree and is now a tier-3 talent (was in the Retribution tree as a tier-6 talent). Spell ranks have been updated accordingly. No longer displays a debuff icon on targets in the area of effect.
- Patch 1.7.0 (2005-09-13):
- Fixed a bug where area of effect periodic damage spells were being resisted more frequently than they should have been when casting lower level ranks of the spell (affected spells were [Blizzard], Consecration, [Explosive Trap], [Flamestrike], [Hurricane], [Rain of Fire] and [Volley]).
- Consecration and other similar spells can no longer be used by non-PvP flagged players to damage PvP flagged enemies.
- Patch 1.6.0 (2005-07-12): No longer resets weapon timer when cast.
