Category talk:Mission mobs

I don't really see any reason for this category, or any of the pages therein, to exist. These aren't NPCs that actually show up in the game anywhere, they're just names and models used in garrison missions. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 20:29, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

The way I see it. These characters are still lore/flavor characters who are part of the warcraft universe. Many characters in the books and mangas, will likely never apear ingame either, but we still have them under their race categories, which I think is as it should be. But I think to some who haven't read all those books and mangas, an orc in a garrison mission is no less an orc, than the ones in other media outside wow. Even if those wowhead modelviewer pictures leave a bit to be desires as per the screenshot standard, I think it's still preferable over the basic "no pic available" ones. But then again I'm also a big fan of keeping as much info on this site as possible for "historical" purposes. PeterWind (talk) 21:39, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
We're not Wowhead; just because something technically exists in the game files doesn't mean we necessarily need a page for it. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 00:04, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
I find myself agreeing with Dark here. I don't think there's much point to make pages for mobs that only appear in missions; at least characters from the manga have played a role in the lore, mission mobs are just names and icons with follower threats attached. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 06:48, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
I'm not 100% for or against yet. There are other cases where we have pages for characters who only appear in mount or pet descriptions, which I think is fine. At the same time we don't keep pages for every name mentioned in the name or flavor texts of items, which I think is also fine. Even if it's not very consistent. If the pages are to be kept, I think it might be better to just go with the face-icons that are also seen in the game, or perhaps screenshots from the screen that appears when the mission is over. I don't think the npc-external-link is necessary as they only link to placeholder files. Some of the enemies you face through missions, must be conquered in order to advance the legendary quest line. That alone would make me think they deserved their own pages. I see reasons both for and against keeping them, but we could always just make a vote. PeterWind (talk) 15:45, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

Pictures

The wowhead model viewer pictures - aye / nay / vote? I don't like the watermark, so I'd say no. --Mordecay (talk) 17:43, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

Aye. Xporc (talk) 18:05, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
I guess the only alternatives are the WoWDB modelviewer or ingame screencaps of their portraits. PeterWind (talk) 20:23, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
I vote no. They practically don't even show up in-game at all except for a very brief flash of being killed, and most of them are non-unique models anyway. Plus there's the watermark issue. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 20:28, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

Creature

Not sure if this has been discussed but wowhead offers creature type, but in the game, we never see it. Most of the times, the type is wrong, many non-demonic beings are tagged as demons. So should the creature field be filled here? --Mordecay (talk) 21:57, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

I don't think that's necessary :) Xporc (talk) 21:58, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

Adventure mobs?

Since Category:Adventure rewards, to differentiate with Category:Mission rewards, is present, should Category:Adventure mobs be created? --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 20:11, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
