Captain Tobias Zaren is a human 7th Legion captain that led a group to surround Shadowfang Keep during the Fourth War where Chief Plaguebringer Harris was developing a new bio-weapon that was intended to be unleashed against Gilneas.[1] Tobias was encountered by the Horde champions while his forces were targeted by Harris' plague.[2]

- Pietro Zaren was originally listed as the NPC to defeat for Shadowfang Plague during the Battle for Azeroth beta,[3] along with having received a promotion to Captain,[4] though this was changed before launch. He was replaced with Captain Tobias Zaren, of unknown relation to Pietro.
- Tobias' NPC is still internally referred to as Pietro and looks exactly like Pietro.
- Given that Pyrewood Village is the most immediate area that surrounds the keep, where Captain Tobias Zaren led his group, it likely refers to this location.
