Bolten Vanyst is is the lord of the Vanyst family of whom Tyrathan Khort had sworn his service too. A vain man with a scheming harridan of a wife, Bolten is always for a great campaign as it takes him away from Stormwind. The father of three daughters, Bolten has seemingly promised his realm to one of their husbands should they be pleased to take up the mantle. Yet when Bolten leaves on a campaign, his nephew- Morelan Vanyst- is always left as regent. When the hidden continent of Pandaria was discovered, Bolten assisted the Alliance in the region. He directed Tyrathan Khort to lead a squad of scouts to the Serpent's Heart and expected them to report within three hours. However the scout force was attacked by the Sha and all but Khort were killed in the ensuing struggle. Driven by guilt, Khort limped away from the battlefield and was eventually taken to the Shado-Pan Monastery to heal by Chen Stormstout.
Feeling the need to prove himself after Tyrathan Khort seemingly passed away, Morelan Vanyst journeyed to join the Pandaria campaign where Khort surmises that Bolten was quick to use his nephew as a tool to further his own ambitions.[1]
