Avinal was the weathered human captain of a convoy ship affiliated to the Theramore military. Usually stationed at Northwatch Hold, he regularly patrolled the waters between there and Ratchet. One day he failed to help the orcish Orgath'ar ship against pirates, saying he didn't see them because of fog, which attracted him the ire of Colonel Lorena.

It is unknown whether he survived the destruction of Northwatch and Theramore.
