The Welcome Back Gift (or Gear Update) is a free service option available to level 10-60 characters that have not logged in for 60 days or more. Characters that are applicable for this service will have a "Gear Update" text on the character selection screen where the location is usually.
It functions similarly to the Character Boost, but without boosting the character's level.
- Players will be able to select the specialization they'd wish to have for the character at the start and receive gear appropriate for the specialization, 4x
[Embersilk Bags], and 
[Adventurer's Footlocker] which contains the other specialization weapons. - Any previously worn gear and bags will be sent to the character via mail with a 180 days until expiration.
- They'll be teleported near Chromie at the Stormwind or Orgrimmar embassies with the quest
[10-59] Adventurers Wanted: Chromie's Call. - Players have the option to clear out the quest log for the character or not.
Notes
- Allied races that have not received their heritage armor will still be eligible for it if this service is used on them.[1]
- The action bars will be reset.

Patch changes
Hotfix (2023-07-24): Allied races should no longer be incorrectly flagged as ineligible for the heritage armor when using the Gear Update service. - Hotfix (2023-07-14): All gear granted from Gear Update and Boosts has had its item level increased by 13. This change is retroactive, so if you Boosted or Gear Updated in the past, your gear will update to the new item level automatically.
