- No. When people ask me to define 'failure', I merely say 'Kirkburn'. Thus the usage of 'a' is wrong. -- Normal 07:40, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Bad pages at the Wikia Wikis
Please get someone to delete the bad pages I listed here. These pages are found in the Wikia Wikis.
User talk:69.234.144.73
That talkpage is in the Transformers Wiki, Starcraft and CNC Wiki. On the Transformers Wiki it has more threats than Assaultheads talkpage.
User talk:Sideways
Angela forgot to delete that talkpage and deleted the Userpage instead. That page has alot of Flame Wars on it.
User talk:Soldier 79
It is still there in the Transformers Wiki.
User talk:Anti-Spammer
I can still see that bad page in the Starcraft Wiki but PsiSeveredHead is not doing his job by protecting pages rather than deleting that talkpage.
User talk:Optimus the F22
I saw alot of flame wars on the talkpage and it is found in the Transformers Wiki and the CNC Wiki.
User talk:Assaulthead
I can still find that offensive page in the Halopedia, Transformers Wiki, South Park Wiki and almost all of the Wikia Wikis.
I tried getting the admins to do so but they missed a spot so can some cross wiki admin delete what I listed here?(SmashingPumpkins1 08:14, 11 January 2008 (UTC))

Avoiding Gold Ads
Hi there.
I just received a message from you about adding links and that the problem is that my site has gold ads. Basically, I really don't want these gold ads, but I don't know how to get rid of them :-( I see that WoWWiki.com also uses Google Ads. How do you avoid the gold ads?
I would really appreciate a response.
Thank you.
-- Morten Helles 18:42, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- You should be able to put blocks on certain words or websites. I do not personally control it, but that is what I've heard. There is also the problem that many of your links go to extremely short pages - linking to well-formed guides is good, but if it doesn't add to whatever is already on the page, it's not suitable. Kirkburn talk contr 18:58, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- As far as I can see, I can only block specific URLs. Which I do as I discover them. I have now also added a URL underneath the ads so that users can report any RMT ads that they discover. I am sorry about violating your policy, but I really wasn't aware of it until now. I will instantly remove all links to "short pages". -- Morten Helles 18:42, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh, shut up

Maybe it's mentioned somewhere, but I couldn't find it. Is the disappearing + in urls caused by the server upgrade you spoke of on the Village Pump? Yesterday Claws of Attack +3 was working, but today the + keeps disappearing. Pratt 20:57, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Skin problems (not dermatological)
Do you want skin issues to just be listed here?
Some things I've noticed:
- On Monaco gaming:
- The darktable class is messed up (white text on light background). This is a big problem.
- Common items using the {{item}} or {{loot}} templates show up as black text on dark blue background:
[Linen Cloth], [Linen Cloth]
- The Quartz skins show a page and then go blank when previewed.
-- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 4:47 PM PST 26 Mar 2008
- Here is fine :) The showing of monobook CSS instead of wowwiki CSS is known - hopefully will be fixable (shouldn't affect the wownaco skin though). I'll take a look at the others. Kirkburn talk contr 12:33, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- I made a skin test page with links at the top which allow previewing the page with all the currently available skins in preferences: User:Fandyllic/Skinbox
- Check it out. You can put stuff on there to test. --
Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:00 PM PST 28 Mar 2008
- Useful! I've seen Monaco Dark (essentially our skin) in action, and it looks pretty good. Still a work in progress, got a low res preview here - http://picasaweb.google.com/Kirkburn/MonacoDark/photo?authkey=Jwju3cAEFLo#5182823793563222066 ... looks better in person, but very recognisably WoWWiki. Admins deleting without reason
You seem to have some authority on IRC, so please tell folks not to delete pages without giving a reason or making sure any links broken by the deletion are fixed or redirected. I don't want us to get like Wikipedia where some admins are basically rogue entities. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:48 AM PST 28 Mar 2008
Change the links...
Kirkburn, can you change the linds back so they are blue instead of red after this 24 hour April Fool's joke thing? It is starting to annoy me because I look at the link and I am still getting confused if the page exists or not, even if I know it is supposed to be a joke. I actually applaud how the admins switched the pages. It reminds me of the constant bitter argument that WoW and GW players have all the time about the similarity of their games, ;). -- Fishdert 16:10, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- Quick way to fix is to simply load the wownaco theme (see above). It's cool, you can help by telling if you stumble across any bugs, and the links are correct

Monaco skin preview
Testing the skin, and bugs |
---|
You should now see a preview of Monaco Charcoal with wowwiki tweaks. Monaco Charcoal is not final, and the wowwiki.css file's changes need to be merged properly, so do not take this as a final appearance.
If you find issues with any areas being unskinned or unreadable, please let me know. Design feedback is also appreciated, and will be passed on. Note: I will update my CSS with changes over the next few days as bugs are fixed, designs are tweaked. Also, remember you will have to delete your skin stuff once the skin is live - which should be next week. |

As requested:
- Wikia logo and "more" preferences options pull-down buttons are too dark for the background.
- Site text feels too bright of a white.
- Toolbox borders are too thick and the site in general needs color.
- Bareness at the bottom of certain pages, like Special:Recentchanges.
--Pcj (T •C ) 01:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- 1. is due to images being missing, 2. and 3. I'll look into, 4. is due to WoWWiki not currently using certain Wikia stuff. It will be turned on in the very near future. Kirkburn talk contr 01:19, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Needs moar yellow. Definitely:
- arrows in the sidebar navbox
- titles of the widget boxes
- text on the namespace and discussion tabs
- Xs in the widgets (close window button)
Maybe:
- Text or hr on the h1 (title of the article)
Will try to think up more. -- DuTempete talk | contr 19:58, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- There should be a bit more spice to the skin now that some more stuff has been activated.
- Not sure how to do the arrows in the sidebar, can't find the CSS for it! Widget box titles, will try that out. Text on the tabs, not so sure, since I don't want it to look "weird". The icons in the widgets are, unfortunately, images. Kirkburn talk contr 22:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Text of the ToC is different than previously. It's either larger, or it's a different font. Also, from IRC: "why is there so much space between {{patchbox}} and the title-line?" --Sky (t · c · w) 00:10, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
<pre> is behaving differently than before.[4] Previously, the pre-box would end when it ran into floating items. This is on Firefox 2.0.0.13. --Sky (t · c · w) 05:25, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Customizing the Special:Mypage/Monaco-toolbox and changing "Special:Whatlinkshere|What links here" to something else (ie, Special:Whatlinkshere|WLH) makes it so that Monaco-mediawiki does not assume that you are referring to the page you are on. Documentation on ensuring correct usage of this at w:c:inside:Monaco Skin Customization needs to be updated. --Sky (t · c · w) 06:54, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

- Fix the extra whitespace that came out of nowhere. I find two examples: Template:Title and User:Sky2042/editcount. It may be what you cited (too small), but I don't think so... There are no other similarities between the two. :/ --Sky (t · c · w) 22:20, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

- When trying to edit a guild webpage it keeps tripping the spam filter and makes it so its unable to be updated, is there a way to get around this spam filter or are these just SOL because they of the web hosting service they make their guild with? --Bloodangels of Shattered Halls US 17:23, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Reasoning for "+"
For admins (and admins alone), on smaller resolutions causes odd floats on the page_bar. I personally prefer + (damn minimalists), as the information needed to show that you should leave a comment is there on mouseover. Forget not that the icon can also be clicked on to leave a comment. Which, leads me to believe it should still be a +. I'll settle for "Comment", however. --Sky (t · c · w) 23:55, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- The icon isn't clickable. Kirkburn talk contr 23:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, do you think the article box should have a min-width then? Kirkburn talk contr 23:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- The icons not clickable. o_O. I could swear it was (on FF. I confirm unclickable on IE). As for min width, no. It's an administrator issue, which means its confined to 20 some-odd people, and forcing a min width makes even lower resolutions (iPhones and what not) have bigger issues. Again, not gonna' kill me to settle for "Comment" :). --Sky (t · c · w) 00:01, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Gonna need to change a little bit more if you want everyone to be happy... and then, someone will not be happy for the way you changed it. --Sky (t · c · w) 00:35, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Case-Sensitive Search
The Search function seems to be case-sensitive. For example, searching on "hinterlands quests" gives no results, even though the first likely match on the list is "Hinterlands quests."
Likewise, "Desolace Quests" doesn't produce a match... because the Q in "quests" is capitalized. Hopefully this is a minor setting tweak?

Preferences bug
Hello. It seems there is a bug with the signature input field in the preferences (or sth. like that). I just wanted to test out the new Monaco skin. Now, when i try to submit, it will not change the settings, because it somehow recognizes my signature field as a nickname field (which is wierd, as there is no nickname field usually) and says it's too long. Obviously, with the raw signature, the field is quite large in my case. I uploaded you a picture to show what i mean.[5] Thanks in advance. Tws 11:33, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Nickname and signature are equivalent in this case. I've altered the error message. See Project:SIG for workarounds :) Kirkburn talk contr 13:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Woot, template substitution in signatures? On wikipedia they would lynch me for that. Thanks for the info. · tws T C · 16:30, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, the relevant guideline on Wikipedia states explicitly that templating and/or adding images to your sig is not allowed for reasons which make a lot of sense.[1][2] Maybe it would be wise to change what we allow in signatures... Essentially, I agree with all the reasons listed, and I think it would be a boon for WoWWiki to follow them also, as we suggest on WW:SIG. :x --Sky (t · c · w) 20:43, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
New skin...
One thing i've noticed with the new skin: It breaks my view on my phone. I've got a PDA phone, and the old them reshaped very well. Everything was readable just fine. The new skin screws stuff up. I read wowwiki on my phone while on WoW on the computer so I don't have to alt-tab, it kinda makes it hard. Is there any way the devs can try to make a phone friendlier version?
Other than that, I don't like the new skin much on a computer either. But thats just me. -- Corvincorvae 17:24, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Issue loading pages
Heyas, having issues loading specific pages with this new default skin. In particular http://www.wowwiki.com/US_realm_list_by_datacenter
The tables with the server IPs don't show up. I know they're coded properly as I can view them from my home computer running Firefox, however running from IE6, all I see are huge gray blank areas where I know the tables should be. To find a specific server's IP I have to View Source, then do a search for the specific server I need...
This is doable, however I like being able to easily see which server is in which Battlegroup in which Data Centre.
Is this something you guys can fix, or is it something with my machine? -- Resa1983 14:34, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- From what I could tell from screenshots on browsershots.org it may be related to slow JS in the Monaco menu. Try disabling JavaScript and see if that helps. --Pcj (T •C ) 15:19, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
