User page

Hey Dobablo! Might I suggest that you move your plans and notes to self to your user page? It will make it easier to seperate your own thoughts from interactions with other editors. You can also create sandbox pages like User:Dobablo/Sandbox if need be. PeterWind (talk) 11:50, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Thanks. I have added a separate user page. Dobablo (talk) 12:16, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
Cheers! PeterWind (talk) 12:23, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Items

Hello! Just noticed your note about items. You can look at Help:Gadgets for a veeeeery easy way to create item pages. --Mordecay (talk) 11:51, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Gadgets! Thank you. I thought I was missing something. Dobablo (talk) 12:10, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
Hey! I went over the pages you created yesterday and applied a few fixes. While learning the ropes, another way to efficiently make pages can be to just copy/past similar pages and apply changes. Try taking a look at  [Vantus Rune Technique: Nythendra] and apply similar changes to  [Vantus Rune Technique: Odyn]. Of course it all takes time getting the hang of. So as usual, if there's any question, just ask! :) PeterWind (talk) 09:41, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I am trying to cut and paste, I just keep snipping slightly different blocks each time! More focsu required (and a worksheet showing which sections to change).—The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Dobablo (talk · contr).
For the technique item pages, you can often get away with just changing the ID and Icon and then just paste the name over the old one in the |name=, |create= and |use=. But yeah give it a go! I'll check back later and fix/add details. Don't worry too much about it :) PeterWind (talk) 10:37, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Siren's Alchemist Stone

Hey! Very nice work on all the profession items! :) For  [Recipe: Siren's Alchemist Stone] it seems that the only "item" is the third, and the two first are learned from the trainer, correct? In this case, I think the recipe item page should only be about the third rank. The ingredient list for the previous ranks should be containted to the page of the created item. PeterWind (talk) 15:27, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

BfA has very few recipe items. I probably went over the top, linking all learnt recipes instead of just the ranks with items. I will thrift out the non-item recipes shortly. Dobablo (talk) 12:51, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
Sure thing! And yeah no rush ofc! Just something to check up on, at some point :) PeterWind (talk) 15:26, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
While on the topic! I noticed in the case of  [Monel-Hardened Breastplate] and the other items from that "set" that there are two versions. I've modified the linked page, to accomodate this. I'll apply this change to the other items in the set, but feel free to modify if you think it can be worded better. PeterWind (talk) 15:43, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
They are on all the crafted BfA leveling sets. Thanks for the spot. I can copy the Alliance/Horde trick on leatherworking and tailoring now. Dobablo (talk) 12:09, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
Ah right, another trick for the recipe pages I remembered. As there are faction-specific versions, we can add "#Horde" after the name of an item to link to that specific version like "|create=Stormsteel Shield#Horde" as an example. PeterWind (talk) 14:44, 31 July 2018 (UTC)

Schematics

I think we need to figure out something else for some of these schematic items.  [Schematic: AZ3-R1-T3 Orthogonal Optics] as an example. The page has a rank 2 & 3 version, but 4 items exist. Factions aren't listed in the itembox. Do you plan to make pages for these like.. Alliance page with rank 2 & 3, and then a Horde page with 2 & 3 or? PeterWind (talk) 15:07, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

I had several attempts at making a four version page was not successful. Since there aren't many Alliance/Horde & Rank 2/3 recipe items I was planning on sacrificing a little tooltip accuracy and keeping it simple, unless you can think of an elegant solution to the problem. Dobablo (talk) 18:48, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
I don't want to sacrifice tooltip. In my opinion, that is the thing that should be most accurate. I would probably do a [[Schematic: Name (Horde)]] and [[Schematic: Name (Alliance)]] with rank 2 and 3 on each. PeterWind (talk) 22:31, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I 80/20'ed a sacred cow in a rush to get the information live. I have done some more and got something working ( [Schematic: AZ3-R1-T3 Synthetic Specs]), but the Horde tooltips showed the helm as requiring Kul Tiras engineering to equip (which is what it says on WoWHead because there are not seperate alliance and horde versions). Assuming that Horde see "Requires Zandalari Engineering" on their item I created an additional tooltip for  [AZ3-R1-T3 Synthetic Specs]. I will not be able to confirm the in-game tooltip for a couple of days. Dobablo (talk) 11:28, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
Counter example.  [Recipe: Honorable Combatant's Plate Armguards]. There are 2 items of these recipes (Rank 2 and 3) but they both say "Requires Kul Tiran Blacksmithing (1)." I don't know if the in-game Horde versions say "Requires Zandalari Blacksmithing (1)." Dobablo (talk) 13:22, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
I think that's a good solution! Displaying the different "requires" lines for the factions even when the item is "the same". Also that page with the 4 versions is excellent I think! :) Also, as you assumed, the recipe displays "Requires Zandalari Blacksmithing" PeterWind (talk) 19:33, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
