Strategy

The fight against Ambassador Mu'lath is a tough but manageable battle for survival. He fights alongside Lieutenant Shuu'laam and Hreth'mar who make up Phase 1 of the encounter. Start with MT on the Ambassador and an OT on Shuu'laam (Hreth'mar does not require a tank as he will casts his abilities from afar).

Shuu'laam

Shuu'laam's aura effect will damage those who deal any kind of damage and lower their haste. He should be kept 30 yards away from the raid by the OT. His main attack Vessel of Darkness will be used on 1/3 (10/25) random players which deals increasing Shadow damage via stacks. This ability cannot be removed normally. However, one can run into melee range of Hreth'mar so he will remove it via Consume Darkness. This will stun all affected players that are in melee range for 6 seconds. Afterwards, he will enrage himself and affected players gaining Dark Frenzy. This causes him and the players to deal and take more damage by an amount equal to the number of stacks left on Vessel of Darkness before getting it removed. If used correctly but cautiously, one can let the debuff reach high stacks before running to Hreth'mar so it can get removed. Unfortunately, Hreth'mar will also gain the same damage bonus as the affected player so his attacks will increase in damage as well as damage receive. Use this mechanic with caution.

Every minute, Shuu'laam will force a tank swap a la Rage of Shadows. This causes the main boss, Ambassador Mu'lath, to deal a significant amount of damage to his tank to whom this debuff is applied to. Lasting for 30 seconds, this debuff can be countered by switching with the OT, who in turn picks up the Ambassador while the MT picks up Shuu'laam. This ensures the MT doesn't take dangerous spike damage or even die for the duration. However, this ability also affects Hreth'mar who continues to spam his attacks which may target the debuffed tank (There is a low chance for Hreth'mar to target victims of Rage of Shadows with his abilities but during his Shadow Storm, tanks may be in trouble).

Note: It may be beneficial to take down Shuu'laam first to prevent him from using the dangerous Rage of Shadows and Vessel of Darkness abilities. His death would also clear up his hazardous Aura of Torment.

Hreth'mar

Hreth'mar starts off with his main spam attack Void Lightning. Simply spread out to avoid limitless chains among of the raid. His aura effect will supress 25% of all healing and snare those within 45 yards by 20%. He will continue to spam Void Lightning to no avail unless he's about to cast another ability. 60 seconds in and every 60 seconds thereafter, he will conjure up a Shadow Storm will deals moderate damage for 20 seconds. Unfortunately, this ability is used at the same time Shuu'laam's Rage of Shadows go out. Switching bosses quickly will prevent massive damage from the Ambassador while cooldowns could be used to survive the 20 seconds of spike damage that is Shadow Storm.

Hreth'mar's next ability is a debuff called Burning Shadows. This deals significant damage for 24 seconds and once its target dies or it gets dispelled, it jumps to any available unit within 5 yards and increase its damage by 75k. This ability can be treated like the Lich King's Necrotic Plague attack in that the affected player can stand next to one of the bosses and have the debuff bounce to that boss after a dispell. If Shuu'laam is the first priority, this debuff can be passed to him (after it has jumped a few times to up the overall debuff damage) to help damage him faster. Doing this will cause him to gain a deadly enrage effect called Vengeful Rage. This will increase his attack speed by 100%, with the bonus increasing by an additional 25% for every time the Burning Shadows has jumped. Just like with Vessel of Darkness, use this ability's mechanic and its consequences with caution.

Ambassador Mu'lath

Once Lieutenant Shuu'laam and Hreth'mar are both down, Phase 2 begins with Ambassador Mu'lath who now begins to rotate randomly between 3 powerful Auras and switches his attacks accordingly.

His begins this phase with his Aura of Misery. This reduces the raid's damage by 25% while causing 15% more damage to taken. Under this aura, Ambassador Mu'lath will attack with his Path of Destruction. The name is literal in that following the initial high damage impact, an enormous amount of damage will be dealt to anyone standing up to 100 yard away in front of him. Fortunately, this attack spreads out up to 30 yards wide so there will be time to avoid certain death.

Eventually he'll set his gaze on several raid members (1/3 for 10/25) for 5 seconds. Following the gaze, the selected targets will be struck with a powerful Void Bomb. This deals significant damage to the target but splits up the damage with those nearby. Stacking up will prove safe yet obvious (especially for 25-man where all 3 Void Bombs will drop on the raid; cooldowns will be needed) for this attack.

After a minute has passed, he'll switch into his Aura of Agony, a debilitating aura that reduces the damage, healing, and haste of the raid while lowering the Ambassador's damage and attack speed. For this aura, Ambassador Mu'lath will use attacks that can increase in damage. His first attack is Doom Bolt which is used on the MT. This ability has a stacking component with it that increases the damage taken from Doom Bolt. With reduced damage, this attack will not hit hard for almost the entirety of the agony aura. His next move is the Shadow Rain which is a seemingly heavy dot that deals damage per sec for 30 seconds and stacks as well. Simply heal through the damage done by this attack.

Mu'lath will also go through a third aura called Aura of Empowerment. This aura is a massive buff applied to any raid member within 40 yards. Damage and healing is increased by 100% while all cooldowns are halved. Beware, Ambassador Mu'lath also deals increased damage and attacks faster. It would be best to use damage and healing cooldowns when this aura is up to get the most out of it for the duration. His first attack under this aura is a deadly Obliterate which inflicts massive damage to the tank but splits the damage with a nearby target. Because of this, that nearby target will be the OT. Defensive cooldowns will be needed to survive the heavy damage inflicted by this attack. Additionally, the primary target will suffer a +100% Shadow damage vulnerability following Obliterate for 15 seconds.

His next move is a channeled attack called Shadow Barrage which sends bolts of dark energy on the location of all raid members per sec for 15 seconds. When this ability is cast, begin to move and continue moving until the channel is finished. Any raid member hit must be healed up quick. Moving as a group will help prevent Shadow barrages from falling all around the raid. Once Shadow Barrage is over, continue Dps as normally while watching out for the powerful Obliterate.

Note: Shadow Barrage has no cooldown and thus will be used randomly. It may be used back-to-back or at the beginning and ending of this Aura phase. Be on the lookout for when it goes out.

Heroic Changes

  • Shuu'laam's Vessel of Darkness applies two stacks of its debuff every 3 sec. instead of one stack.
  • The Rage of Shadows debuff deals double damage per hit from the boss.
  • Dark Frenzy damages affected players for 5% of their maximum health every 5 sec. for the duration.

  • Shadow Storm applies a +1% Shadow damage vulnerability per sec., stacking each time damage is dealt. Damage ticks every 1 sec. instead of 2 seconds.
  • Burning Shadows leave flames on the ground underneath its victim when it jumps. The fire will function like the Lich King's Defile and lasts until Hreth'mar is defeated.
  • Ambassador Mu'lath's Path of Destruction leaves shadow fissure on the ground following the intial strike.
  • Void Bomb knocks all damaged players away.
  • Aura of Agony drains 3% health from the raid every 2 seconds.
  • Doom Bolt hits several other raid members and Shadow Rain comes off cooldown faster as it deals damage.
  • Shadow Barrage will be used 5 sec. following a previous channel.
  • Every 20 seconds, Hreth'mar will move closer towards players that are stacked up or atleast 10 yards apart. In addition, Lieutenant Shuu'laam and Hreth'mar will swap Auras.
