Background
Dungeon Journal
Once a peaceful dweller of the languid pools within Balor, this elemental guardian's instincts have been maddened by the Nightmare's infection. As limpid coils of alien flesh enclose the caverns, Opilione hungrily devours the energies they offer like sweet, poisoned honey.
Abilities
- Isles of Purity — Opilione is fought in the center of a ring formed of five stone pillars, linked by bridges of Nightmare flesh.
- Unsafe Ground — All who stand on a bridge of corruption will take increased damage for as long as they stand on it. Moving off the bridge removes this effect.
- Emerald Adrenaline — Adrenaline is released from Balor's body as the fight goes on. Coming into contact with it gives a stack of Emerald Adrenaline. This increases the player's movement speed, attack speed and haste. Stacks.
Towering Assault
- Pulse — Fires a pulse of burning light from his eyes at a random player, dealing fire damage.
- Sterilizing Beam — Focuses a beam of burning light at a random player's location and follows them for a set period of time, dealing fire damage over time and leaving Scorched Earth on the ground.
- Scorched Earth — Scorched Earth deals fire damage to those who stand within its radius.
- Stomp — Highlights a large area on the targeted platform, then slams one leg onto it, dealing massive physical damage to everyone in the area.
- Incite Corruption — Incites the corruption on the platform it's target is currently on, dealing increasing shadow damage to all on the platform. Also, spawns tentacles in random locations that deal contact shadow damage.
Gaze of Desolation
- Dread Grip — Tendrils of nightmare energy pull all players to the center of a random platform.
- Siphon Corruption — The boss plants one leg on a platform adjacent to the player's current platform and begins to siphon corruptive energy, powering Incineration Ray. This act stirs the nightmare corruption within the stomach, spawning hazards along the platforms. Once a player manages to reach the leg, they can click it to dislodge it. Temporarily removes the Unsafe Ground effect from the bridges.
- Incineration Ray — Projects a lethal beam of fire damage onto the platforms and begins to rotate. Players must run along the platforms to avoid this.
- Hazards — Various hazards will rise up from the platforms as the Nightmare is stirred.
- Tentacle — Tentacles spawn across the platforms and bridges in various maze-like patterns. Some will occasionally slam down and damage and stunning all those impacted.
- Dread Orb — Orbs of corruption will float down the bridges and explode on contact with players, dealing AOE shadow damage and slowing them.
- Fissures — Dark fissures open up along the paths that damage and slow all who walk on them. Jump to avoid.
- Dreadshell Bulwark — A corrupted Shieldshell will arise from one random platform when the players near it. Corruptive tentacles seal off the exit until it is defeated.
- Defend — Fixates on a random player and aims a hemispherical shield in their direction, blocking all damage for 180 degrees in front of it.
- Noxious Miasma — Highlights a hemispherical area of the ground in front of the boss. In a few seconds, this area will explode with noxious gasses, dealing shadow damage to all in it.
Strategies
While this fight looks complicated, it is much simpler in practice. (more later)
