Template talk:Warcraft III

This is the Warcraft III "lore" template. It represents lore from the main campaigns, and the "snippets" of lore written for and into official multiplayer map files by Blizzard for their official released maps.

It in no way way means that all lore blizzard has included represents the main Warcraft universe storyline, as some may or may not be part of the Warcraft storyline. But it represents Blizzard's various "storylines" tied to official Warcraft add-ons and products. This is the reason for the note, in the template, that what is included in each article it is applied to, may not represent what is said in other sources of lore.

Infact this even applies to differences in storylines where changes are made due to later retcons, where old lore is no longer part of the new lore. But we still chronicle the old versions of the storyline in order to point out the differences, and chronicle a history and evolution of the production of the franchise storyline.

1st of all i must sorry for my poor english. Next: I think there is no need of this category in this template. The 1st reason is that now this category contains about 848 articles which makes this category too large. So it will be better to remove is too make this category smaller (as i remember it was about 130-140 articles without template) and easier too use. 2nd reason - I've made a category:Articles containing lore from Warcraft III and replace it with above - so all pages with this template should still have a category. --Askarmuk (talk) 11:46, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

It's supposed to be a large category when they contain Warcraft III, and we don't have any "Articles containing lore from <game>" either. Since this wiki is WoW-centered, we don't use Burning Crusade etc categories on BC content. --g0urra[T҂C] 12:11, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
What I'm trying to understand is... you're not removing the category, you're changing it from Warcraft III to Articles containing lore from Warcraft III. So if you're planning to remove the template from every article, I don't see the point of the change. What lore articles actually use the template? If every article in the Warcraft III category has a subcategory within that category then we could go ahead and remove said category from the template... but changing to a longer named category, I don't see why. category:Warcraft III lore. --Askarmuk (talk) 20:38, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
"supposed to be a large category" - tell me why plz. My answer is totally opposites. And many articles with this template now needed to put in some warcraft-iii-subcategory not parent. --Askarmuk (talk) 20:38, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Also all can use this - Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Warcraft III - instead categorizing. --Askarmuk (talk) 20:38, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Since The Frozen Throne is also included, should include File:WC3tFT-logo-small.png on the other side of the template. Would fit perfectly. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 18:52, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
