Identical to the Cataclysm dragons?

What, exactly, makes you sure they are not the same kind? I'm getting confused as it was recently added to the page different types of this dragonflight, and that list includes mobs from Cataclysm, so why do you keep the pages apart anyway :) --Amargaard (talk) 22:35, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

The ones in Cataclysm were more like elementals, whereas these are pretty solidly just dragons. Blizzard also didn't draw any comparisons between them, which seems to imply they're different despite the similar names. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:50, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
So.. I guess it's a mistake then that this page has a list that includes Young Storm Dragon, or? --Amargaard (talk) 01:09, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
Correct, this page should not include any of the Cataclysm storm drakes. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 01:09, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
Which it doesn't. There will be Legion Young Storm Dragons. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 02:18, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Differentiation

"Thorignir" =/= "Storm dragons of the Broken Isles". The Thoriginir are only the main, I quote, "brood", of those. Other Broken Isles Storm Dragons do not belong to the Thorignir, such as Nithogg and his brood. So we should find a general name for these storm dragons since "storm dragon" is already taken by the Cataclysm drakes. Maybe "Storm Dragons (Broken Isles)". -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 23:58, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Is it confirmed that these "notable" Thorignir are all Thorignir? Xporc (talk) 09:59, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
Nope, the person who made that list most certainly mixed up Thorignir and Storm dragons together, I removed those who I personally knew were not Thorignir but don't know enough about all the others. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 14:13, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
Nithogg was Thorignir up until he left them and we have no reason to doubt any other groups besides his aren't Thorignir. ReignTG (talk) 14:15, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
IIRC Fathnyr has joined the Legion. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 14:32, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
The terms were at one point synonymous, and most of them are still Thorignir or only notable for leaving them.--SWM2448 19:26, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
Storm dragon is the race, Thorignir is the faction, which indeed includes nearly all storm dragons. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 22:01, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
The difference is so minimal that I don't see the point of having two pages. We have two half pages as it is.--SWM2448 22:11, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
I can't agree in splitting them either, especially since both of them have barely information on them as is. At most just have a note that Nithogg and his brood are no longer part of the Thorignir faction. We also don't have anything to my knowledge actually calling them "storm dragonflight". Thorignir may very well be the name of the race as well as the faction.ReignTG (talk) 22:15, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
We have two pages because they are not the same thing, and we have half pages because they are stubs : information about them is not lacking in Legion. As for "storm dragonflight" I agree, they are not a dragonflight, same for the "plagued dragonflight" and "nightmare dragonflight" I believe, but I don't have the courage to change all these articles myself. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 22:17, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
The Argent Dawn recently learned that the Scourge are creating their own plagued dragonflight!--SWM2448 22:32, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
Good find! The rest still stands I believe. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 00:49, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Does anyone know if the Thorignir and storm dragons in general are features in 7.2? Xporc (talk) 22:43, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
Getting to Paragon (reputation past Exalted) with the Valarjar rewards you with a cache that can contain a Stormwing dragon. Nothing else beyond that as far as I'm aware. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 00:49, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Since Thorignir are supposed to serve the Keepers, does this mean that the Stormwing still serve Odyn, and thus are Thorignir themselves? Xporc (talk) 08:22, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Yes Stormwing are Thoriginir, I believe Vethir says something along those lines in one of the world quests there. - MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 08:39, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Not sure how I feel on this particular subject, but per the definition on dragonflight the word just describes subraces, which I think, speaks in favor of at least plagued and nightmare dragons counting as a flight. PeterWind (talk) 13:38, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Where does that definition come from ? Because the original dragonflights were absolutely not subraces, they were the same proto-dragon race with just different color skin ; dragonflights are just groups/organizations : Ysera and Alexstrasza are sisters, thus same (sub)race, but belong to different dragonflights. A dragonflight is more about unity, that's why a few, unrelated individuals can't count as a dragonflight (not talking about any one in particular). -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 13:50, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Since their empowerements by the keepers I think the dragonflights can count as subraces Xporc (talk) 14:25, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
