Science

I don't even think it's necessary to note the scientific impossibilities of undeath. I would, however, like to point out something slightly less obvious about the Plague. At once, it is spread by spores, miasmas, and ingestion. Of course, it's probably foolish to look too deeply into this, but I just found that logical fallacy kind of funny. -Blackhawk003

Nerubians - invulnerable to the Plague

Yes, we all know they are, but this article seems to think otherwise! I'm going to change a few errors on it.--Mannerheim 06:07, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

An Update, does this page need it?

Just wondering if this page should be updated to make mention of the ways the plague is feature in WotLK, as well as possibly documenting the Blight Crystal plague. Vulpes Wolf (talk) 18:31, January 26, 2010 (UTC)

It does. However, the line between "Plague" and "Blight" seems to have been blurred, so I not sure what will go where.--SWM2448 18:58, January 26, 2010 (UTC)

How do we survive?

A noticeable hole I've found in the Plague is that player characters, the Argent Dawn, and the Scarlet Crusade all spend considerable time in the Plaguelands, especially the Eastern ones. Yet they're all fine. While I'm sure the Argent and the Scarlet use the Light to protect themselves against the Plague, what about us? Us player characters, we aren't all Light worshipping classes. Yet player characters aren't invulnerable to the Plague as the Lich King infected us all with it before WotLK. Anybody able to answer this discrepancy? MegaNerd18 (talk) 04:06, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Because the plague isn't airborne, it's delivered via ingestion or physical contact. We're not eating plagued grain and we're not swimming in plague goo. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:58, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
But if the Plague is microscopic and floating in the air, than aren't we all coming into physical contact with it? MegaNerd18 (talk) 04:06, August 2, 2010 (UTC)
Simple answer... magic. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 05:00, August 2, 2010 (UTC)
If you recall we were all cured by Putress during the Zombie Infestation and thus we are immune to the Plague, (I presume).AhotahThunderhorn (talk) 05:24, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Why does Undeath redirect to Plague of Undeath?

When I went to the undeath page, it redirected me to the plague of undeath page. Shouldn't we create a page about undeath and at the top ask if we were referring to the plague of undeath considering that undeath exists outside of just the scourge? Previously Flame486 03:15, 18 January 2012 (UTC)

I don't think "undeath" needs it's own separate page. But I believe it would be better redirecting to Undead. --Aquamonkeyeg (talk) 00:06, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Fungal vs Fel

The nature of fel is radiation that contaminates by proximity (AskCDev3). This is fundamentally different than the nature of Plague, which spread only by ingestion or contagious vector. People didn't become infected by just standing near contaminated grain. This isn't to say that Plague necessarily doesn't contain fel. The effects VisionOfPerfection described indeed point to fel being part of Plague, but fel is not its nature. --Aquamonkeyeg (talk) 23:38, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

But the Plague of Undeath originated from the Frozen Throne and I doubt there was any fungus on top of the Icecrown Glacier. The grain was just a way of distributing the Plague of Undeath. The Plague of Undeath has existed without the grain, the grain was merely infused with the Plague of Undeath, Ner'zhul didn't shove fungus out of the Frozen Throne. Since the Plague of Undeath was controlled by Ner'zhul and his Necromancers it can be safety assumed that they contained the radiation. Everything we're given indicates the nature of the Plague of Undeath was Fel. The Plague of Undeath was stated to be magical in nature. It would be nice if we had an official statement declaring whether or not the Plague was fungal or demonic, or perhaps even both. Plague magic in-game is a combination of Nature magic and Shadow magic, and Drain Life is a Fel spell and it's classified as Shadow magic, and Fel magic seeks to have necromantic properties so it makes sense that the Plague of Undeath is both Nature magic + Fel magic. Felmyst's ability Demonic Vapor is classified as Nature and it raises Skeletons from the ground. And thanks Aqua for helping me edit these pages, I'm new to this..... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by VisionOfPerfection (talk · contr).
Oh, I'm not doubting that Plague contains fel. It's just that Plague behaves and spreads very differently than fel.
Also, the Plague that came to Lordaeron wasn't the original stuff Ner'zhul created in the Frozen Throne. As you said, it was originally cast and controlled by Ner'zhul psychically. However, it went through various experimental stages and Kel'thuzad changed it's nature when he brought it to Lordaeron. This new version could no longer just float about at Ner'zhul's command; it only spread by ingestion or contagious vector.
So while it may not have originally started as fungal, that is how it behaves now. --Aquamonkeyeg (talk) 00:49, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
That makes sense. --VisionOfPerfection (talk)
