Anyone got a nice pic of Nordrassil ? I think the WoWwiki logo + Nordrassil + "The tree encyclopedia" would be all right.--K ) (talk) 06:08, 8 October 2006 (EDT)

Sacrificing our immortality?

As far as I understand, the night-elves' immortality was due to the blessing of Nozdormu being bound to Nordrassil. And World of Warcraft map data of today's Hyjal (the closed raid instance in Kalimdor) shows that Nordrassil still exists. So why aren't we immortal anymore? Privatekey 14:13, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

It seems due to the clashing shock the whisps caused when destroying Archimonde. Or perhaphs because Archimonde is haunting the tree. Who knows.
The tree there with Archimonde's remains can also be retconed if someday they plan to open Hyjal, as they did while opening the CoT, by changing the original hourglash by a set of spinning hourglasses. -- Ravenore, the Necroshadowmancer 20:14, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Maybe the Tree is still there, but his core is dead or anyway Archimonde(or his remains) corrupted it, making the NE loose their immortality...I hope the Modern Hyjal Instance(or at least something like that) will be opened a day and something more will be explained.

It was probably Nordrassil releasing all that energy against Archimonde that did it. Perhaps it stopped the immortality spell to try and provide that energy. Jormungand01 (talk) 18:28, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Why did Archimonde go after Nordrassil?

This issue has been confusing me ever since I played warcraft III. Everyone acts like the destruction of the world tree would mean the fall of Azeroth. But how is that supposed to work? The world tree, at the time, only granted the night elves enhanced powers. So, its destruction would weaken a (very powerful) race, but it wouldn't mean the world would automatically fall. According to the RPG (And all but explicitly stated outside of it), the well of eternity was the source of all arcane magic on Azeroth, but if that was the case, other worlds should have wells of eternity as well, meaning that archimonde probably already drained a few(or isn't allowed to drain them), so it wouldn't mean a massive increase in his powers. So why exactly was the world tree his target? --Ijffdrie (talk) 00:33, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Same reason why it was the only thing stopping Ragnaros from flooding azeroth in fire, mass amounts of arcane and nature power.--Ashbear160 (talk) 00:42, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Yes, it has a lot of power, especially for a being like Ragnaros, but it seems weird that it would still result in a power increase for Archimonde, despite the legion having conquered hundreds of worlds (most presumably having a full-blown well of eternity rather than the three vial alternative we got)--Ijffdrie (talk) 00:46, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
s far as we know the well of eternity is exclusive to azeroth--Ashbear160 (talk) 00:48, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
But how would that work? It's made clear in the war of the ancients trilogy that the arcane power in that era is so powerful because the well of eternity is still intact, rather than the smaller, second well of eternity used at the time of warcraft III, and it would presumably be even weaker without that. And we know that there were other worlds (like Argus), where powerful arcane magic was used. So clearly there must have been some source of arcane power on those worlds.--Ijffdrie (talk) 00:53, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
I don't think why Archimonde went straight for Nordrassil is explained, but demons are hungry. He was going to devour what was left of the well. Magic comes from several sources (like the Twisting Nether), the Well was just a big one on Azeroth.--SWM2448 02:09, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm almost certain something contradicts the UVG on how Archimonde was planning on harvesting the energies of the Well.--SWM2448 03:03, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

The connection between Nordrassil and the night elves was that it granted them immortality and it no longer does that. Is that it? --Mordecay (talk) 12:17, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
