Mountain Kings

I feel it is safe to assume that Dwarves in World of WarCraft who demonstrate high ranking, exceptional combat ability, and utilize some of the Mountain King's trait abilities are Mountain Kings themselves (Magni Bronzebeard, Vanndar Stormpike). Just wanted to make sure this was universall accepted before I expanded the Mountain King section. --Pure.Wasted 17:28, 5 October 2006 (EDT)

Nah, don't attempt to assume who might be Mountain Kings ingame unless an NPC, or quest says something specifically that they are mountain kings. Going by the lore in the Alliance Player's Guide, I doubt Magni is a one since it only discusses his brother in that light.Baggins 00:51, 25 November 2006 (EST)
Why do people insist that Magni isn't a Mountain King simply cause Blizzard hasn't sat down and said "He's a f***ing Mountain King ya nubs". EVERY one of his moves except Knock Away is literally exactly the same as the Mountain King hero class in WC3. He is exactly the same AND he's literally the king of a mountain. Every single bit of evidence that points in one direction or the other points to Magni being an MK, therefor it is more than safe to assume that he is, indeed, a Mountain King proper. Article

This article seems to be very repetive. maybe it needs to be rewriten? (Keilden 05:56, 3 May 2007 (EDT))

Numbers of Mountain Kings

It seems to be strange that there can be so many of them at one time. Maybe there are hundreads of minature dwarvern tribes! like the Rockbeard and Thundercliff (IM USING RANDOMLY GENERATED NAMES FROM wc3) maybe they are trying to have there clan to survive by secretly working in Ironforge.--The last Alterac 05:06, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Not all mountain kings are actually kings. Its more of an honorary title.Baggins 05:15, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

That would explain why Prince Muradin was a mountain king XD--The last Alterac 07:22, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, and why his brother magni is King under the Mountain, but not a Mountain King.Baggins 07:24, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
I keep removing Baggins' comment because it is pure speculation and he's saying it as though it is fact. It's misleading to people who are trying to figure this stuff out. Drasol 16:53, 15 August 2010 (CST)
No, just point it out as wrong.--SWM2448 00:13, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
I don't care if you think he's wrong or not, you DON'T remove other people's comments on DISCUSSION pages. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 00:30, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
Wikis are the epitome of free speech. Removing other people's comment on any discussion, whether you agree with them or not, is tantamount to censorship. That doesn't fly on a site like this. Korval (talk) 06:20, August 17, 2010 (UTC)
At least the talk pages.--SWM2448 18:57, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

Current High Thanes

The proper High Thanes currently in WoW were listed as Magni, Falstad, and Thaurissan, but with Magni no longer interested in his throne and Thaurissan dead, I edited it to show Muradin and speculatively Dagran II. It's been since set back to Dagran Thaurissan, who is still dead ofc. I'm just curious what people think makes the most sense here. Personally, with Dagran almost a decade and a half dead real time, I believe he should not be listed as a current High Thane, even if he is still technically in the game. Morrivar36855 (talk) 04:02, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

Also, I'm not a fan of Dagran's use of Avatar of Flame being used as a source that he's a High Thane. For one, this section is about the political position, not the hero class, and for two every playable warrior has straight up Avatar and nobody is suggesting they're Mountain Kings. That's not really enough. Okay, I'll stop replying to myself. If I'm not supposed to do that, someone feel free to append this to my previous comment. Still new here. Morrivar36855 (talk) 04:05, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
There's no real or concrete canon lore that would definitely point to who is a mountain king and who is not. Or a thane, really. I don't think there's any canon saying for sure that dwarven thane is the same thing as a mountain king, the warrior protector which the intro, from Warcraft III, states.--Mordecay (talk) 17:14, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
True, but we do know what thanes are and the High Thanes are basically the dwarf kings. They may not all be Mountain Kings, but as long as this page treats them as such it'd be nice to have a reasonably up to date list with the understanding we currently have.Morrivar36855 (talk) 05:12, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
Nvm, I guess that whole section was removed. That's fair I suppose. Morrivar36855 (talk) 05:14, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
tbh if you're a dwarf leader and have the Avatar ability, I'll tag you as a mountain king, whether there is lore about it or not :p Xporc (talk) 18:11, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
Perfectly fair, but Avatar and Avatar of Flame are not the same thing. That's my point. Also, I know you're probably just goofing a bit, but that's a pretty flippant response to feedback given in good faith.Morrivar36855 (talk) 05:09, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
From its inception, "dwarven mountain king" and "thane" have been synonymous. There is the idea that a dwarf can have the rank without being the class, but if said dwarf can use Avatar, then they are probably the class. Avatar of Flame is just a Ragnaros-fueled knockoff Avatar.--SWM2448 05:14, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
