10, 100, or 1000

While reading a Twitter conversation, I thought I'd look further on the article. The article states in the leading part that the mantid's "thousand-year cycle of aggression [kicked] off a hundred years too early", while further down it was "ten years too soon" before the Cycle of the Mantid which says it's "every one hundred years". The latest one is the only one that can be proved, while the sources of the other ones are lost or can't be found. Can someone help clarify this and put in proper current sources? --g0urra[T҂C] 12:26, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

Everyone pretty much agrees that it was probably suffered a soft retcon from 1000 to 100. Mostly because 1000 years is too long for the mantid to present a significant threat in memory--Ashbear160 (talk) 14:04, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
I'd probably agree with that, since it's the most recent (and in fact the only available) source. Would that make it that the mantid period occurred 10 years too early? There's no source for that (as far as I know), but it'd scale with the 1000 -> 100 year period. --g0urra[T҂C] 15:51, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
Rades offered the following quote to settle our discussion, and it implicitly gives the 10-year number: Gao-ran the Tempered says: Lord Zhu, the mantid have not been seen in these numbers since the swarm more than 90 years ago.[1] Corv (talk) 19:27, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
I see. Thanks for the information. --g0urra[T҂C] 11:13, 3 March 2013 (UTC)
Just for the record, doing a search (out of sheer curiosity) turned up several sources from around May 2012, such as the Wowhead Townlong Steppes Preview, which all state a 1000-year cycle. By the end of the year it seems the number had been changed to 100 years, with debates on forums over the contradiction. The 1000-year cycle is actually still referenced in Wowhead's current Townlong Steppes zone page. -- Taohinton (talk) 03:51, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
In the last short story, Death from Above, a 100-year cycle is stated. So I guess this is the confirmed number of years.--Cemotucu (talk) 04:50, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
Yes, that number seems to be confirmed by various sources now, such as Cycle of the Mantid. -- Taohinton (talk) 04:59, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
