Talk:Item suffix
(Forgive me if I mess up an edit of this page -- it's my first time fiddling with the content of WoWWiki in any way.)
There are a few new suffixes now, I think as of 2.1. I know I've seen "of the Knight", on the Deathwing Brood Cloaks you can get from the Blade's Edge Skyguard content hub. I know that it has stamina, defense, and damage-and-healing. The WoWHead page for those cloaks shows the stats:

Someone wrote an NB failing to believe that "of the Sorcerer", "of the Sun" & "of the Vision" have identical stats. I can confirm they have, the sources these suffixes come from are different however. "Of the Sorcerer" can be found on random greens from outland like the other suffixes. "Of the Sun" can only be found on items dropped by Fenissa the Assassin. "of the Vision" can only be found on items inside [Outcast's Cache]. Ithilian 19:43, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Just thinking that the rant at the bottom of the page about warlocks drain spells and +healing should be removed and people re-directed to the warlock page or something. The Retard
Would there be any point adding to/updating this section to include the changes undergone in Warlords of Draenor?
I can't seem to find an exhaustive list of the current suffixes that WoD offers, in poarticular those that include stat's like Bonus Armor.

Complete Suffix List
Here is a complete (to my knowledge) list of the suffixes as of patch 3.3, many of which are not represented on the suffix page. I'm not really sure of the best way to organize them.
of Agility |
of Shadow Protection |
of the Hierophant |

I've accounted for every one of these in the current revision of the page (to the best of my knowledge!) I think we're pretty set here. --Drolfeir (talk) 12:15, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Section Ordering
Should we put sections talking about the current content first, (e.g. Cata then Wrath then BC then Classic)?
Also, when doing random classic instance, one gets a bag in which there is a blue item. Even if the content is from classic, sometimes the suffix is from the list of BC-suffix. Might it be better to merge all the sections together? or maybe put section according to the number of stats on the items (e.g. single stat suffix, two stat suffix, ...)? and ending with deprecated suffixes (e.g. defense, blocking, ...)?

- I think this is a good idea, this page could stand to be thoroughly reorganized, especially since everything is revamped since the Shattering/Cataclysm changes.
- I have thoroughly organized the new four-stat item suffixes with high lvl cata gear, but I haven't gone through the three-or-less stat changes and additions. I hope what I have put in helps though, especially since current databases are showing incorrect three-stat info.

Related to this, I think it wouldn't hurt to break out the class preference section into it's own table. That's something I could get on. Put it at the top where it's accessible to newer players? or at the bottom?

With a little more polish, links, and perhaps suffixes roughly in order of power, etc. --Drolfeir (talk) 09:06, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
8.0 Changes
Aside from this chart being out of date since at earliest 4.0, Patch 8.0 changed all item suffixes for all old gear* retroactively. All items in-game that have a random item suffix were changed to follow the BfA Suffix List: Aurora, Feverflare, Fireflash, Harmonious, Peerless, Quickblade. All old suffixes were removed, including those that didn't give secondary stats (such as of Frost Protection or of Intellect). *This excludes Legion introduced suffixes that give only one stat: Adaptable, Decimator, Impatient, Savant. These four suffixes are only itemized on Legion gear, and have not appeared on any BfA gear. This looks like it is going to need a massive update that will take quite some time. --Kanariya (talk) 03:59, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- having messed with suffixes a while back, part of me wants to say “they did WHAT?!” a lot of the old suffix names were very cool—and of course “of the [animal]” is super nostalgic, so that’s sad to say goodbye to
- in the end i’m also a little relieved to hear it’s been simplified though. should allow for {{random enchants}} to be cut ‘’way’’ down in size. i might look into it tomorrow, i really enjoy this kind of number-y stuff anyway —Eithris (talk) 05:13, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- Oh dang! Sure is a lot simpler, but also a little sad. PeterWind (talk) 14:14, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- The old suffixes will still appear on Classic, I think :o Xporc (talk) 09:04, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- aye, at least the vanilla ones won’t be completely gone. and hopefully since it’ll ONLY be the vanilla ones it won't be as much of a mega pain to work on :p
- when classic hits i’ll probs put those suffixes in a separate version of the template, so they can be used again without making the current version too ridiculous —Eithris (talk) 18:02, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Hero
I don't see "of the Hero" anywhere, which existed on MoP-era crafted items. Just pointing that out since I happened to be going through some old stuff in my blacksmithing alt's bags and was surprised to see that her Ghost-Forged Breastplate had had its suffix changed to "of the Fireflash".
I can't recall what the stat allocations for that suffix were, unfortunately. -- Alayea (talk / contrib) 18:41, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
