Demigod?

Does he count as a demigod? The Gronn page says he may.--SWM2448 15:30, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

I can't really find the information i once heard about, but i do believe i once heard about Blizzard talking about them as being demigods, well atleast in the eyes of the ogres, and they might be, in accordance with the lore about Nath Fiskert/c  15:42, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Demigods are single, eternal beings who are worshipped by members of a particular sect within a larger system of belief who wield great powers. A demigod's followers worship them but at the same time those followers worship a greater entity shared by followers of other demigods. Demigods are usually lesser in power than actual gods and will more often be found in physical forms. Infact the most common idea of a demigod is "a god in the flesh".
In order to determine if Gruul is a demigod we would have to know whether or not he is eternal. That is, unless fatal wounds are inflicted on him would he live forever? Since it has already been stated by several sources that Gronn are immortal beings then the answer is most likely yes. We can obviously see that he is worshipped by Ogres though not all of them. Infact, as far as can be seen Gruul is probably the only figure worshipped by any Ogres at all making him the focal point of a belief. With that being said, should the other prerequisites be met, Gruul would technically be a god. Though Gruul has no inexplainable powers as most gods do he has proven to have immense physical strength. Though this is most likely just due to his sheer size.
So, in conclusion... the idea that Gruul most likely has eternal life and is the focal point of a belief would actually make him a god. However, his lack of any powers save his immense strength relegates him to being nothing more than a large creature capable of doing alot of damage and who is the ruler of Ogres, worshipped out of fear rather than true reverance. Like any dictator.--Varteras 11:39, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

That depends on whether Gruul's sonic powers and growth ability are natural due to his strength or supernatural in origin. And Gruul is definately not the single deity-figure of the ogres, Nath seems to be their focal deity (the fact that he is their war god may indicate that he is part of a pantheon). So yes, Gruul meets the "stands behind a deity" demand of demigodhood, and perhaps even the "Power" one. Xavius, the Satyr Lord (talk) 22:19, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Lore

Is there a lore reason he kills dragons?

Phat Loot KelvinFrost 09:42, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Apparently after Draenor became Outland and Deathwing left, the black dragons that were left caused trouble for a lot of groups. So, the gronn and the black dragons had a war and the dragons took heavy losses. Some can still be found around Outland like Sabellian and Blackscale.--SWM2448 15:28, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

If he is the father of that seven smaller gronns... who is the mother? *g* --Thundor 09:15, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Also on the lore note, is it possible that this boss' name comes from the Gruul guild in Magic: The Gathering? It seems to fit. --Quix

Yes, especially since the Gruul leader is Borborygmos (right spelling?), a cyclops. Xavius, the Satyr Lord (talk) 22:13, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Time paradox

"Today, Gruul the Dragonkiller is worshiped as a deity..." Should the tense be corrected?--Adûnâi (talk) 01:38, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
