The "{{NPC|2=" ? That's added by the visual editor, it looks like. Usually, we simply add another "|" for that. -- Mordecay (talk) 09:26, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

It is a numbered parameter that can used interchangeably as an anonymous parameter, so {{NPC|2=<text>}} or {{NPC||<text>}} would do the same thing really.
