It is my belief that the gargoyles are nothing more then humanoid bats. Charred But Alive 09:53, 21 June 2006 (EDT)

• Well, I believe that they are not "undead" in the sense of corpses raised from the dead, but, they are still unanimated beings brought to life by the magic of the Lich King, so they are creatures with the same strenghts and weaknesses that the ordinary undead.(Kalarthum)

Intro

The Intro repeats the same thing twice, it reads "In times of great peril, gargoyles can land and condense their hides into a stone-like surface. Though they are unable to attack in this state, they can take time to regenerate their wounds and replenish their energies. The voracious gargoyles of Northrend The voracious gargoyles of Northrend are capable of condensing their crystalline hides to make themselves nearly impervious to any forms of attacks. Though they must land and remain motionless while in this state, Stone Form does allow them to recoup their energies for battle. " I'm going to cut out the underlined part, if some one wants they can change it or w/e since I quoted the original form Also wasn't sure if I should of left the citation in or not Kantoisamo (talk) 21:36, February 1, 2010 (UTC)

The source text is as follows: The dreaded gargoyles of Northrend are voracious flying creatures who revel in slaughter and mayhem. Brought from the frozen north by the armies of the Lich King, these strange, wiry flyers have rough, crystalline hides which protect them from all manner of attacks. In times of great peril, gargoyles can land and condense their hides into a stone-like surface. Though they are unable to attack in this state, they can take time to regenerate their wounds and replenish their energies.

Then it goes on to talk about the "Stone Form" ability: The voracious gargoyles of Northrend are capable of condensing their crystalline hides to make themselves nearly impervious to any forms of attacks. Though they must land and remain motionless while in this state, Stone Form does allow them to recoup their energies for battle.

The source itself is redundant. Keep the citation if the new text says what the source says.--SWM2448 22:54, February 1, 2010 (UTC)

Ah, thank you since I simply cut out the part that talks about "Stone Form" I should leave the citation, correct? I'll add that Kantoisamo (talk) 15:35, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

Twilight's Hammer gargoyle

As I brought up on Slack, I don't think the creature in this image is actually supposed to be a gargoyle. It looks more like just a large bat being ridden by a cultist (the wings are attached to the legs like on bats, there's no visible gargoyle tail, and the hind legs look more like stubby bat legs rather than the longer gargoyle legs). It would also just make a lot more sense for that frame of the comic to show the cultists depart for Theramore riding bats, since a few pages later we see them attacking Theramore riding bats, rather than for the artist to just throw in a half-obscured gargoyle that is hanging out with Old God minions for some reason when pretty much every other source exclusively associates gargoyles with the Scourge. -- DeludedTroll (talk • contribs) 21:30, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Well, I can understand why it was originally labelled as gargoyle by the uploader, the head looks a bit gargoyly, but apparently it's meant to be a bat, based on the next pages, as well as a previous issue where the Forsaken chick is also riding it during the peace meeting attack. Also, I don't think I've ever seen a gargoyle used as a mount. --Mordecay (talk) 11:29, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
