Where did this information about Cenarius' literal daughter, known as "the dryad" come from?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Parqual Fintalas (talk · contr).
The info about "the dryad" is from Horde Player's Guide. As for mother of the forest spirits, and the regular dryads? Not given, and I doubt it will ever be expanded on.Baggins 19:46, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Tree Spirit
Since this is a totally different species (that was obviously taken from the infamous MoM Appendix III), I propose for it to be moved to it's own article. Saimdusan 22:37, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- It is easy to tell they are different species, but they share the same name. It is policy to combine races/organizations that share the same name but are not the same species for example death knight, chimaera, basilisk, and raptor, etc. They just have book citations.Baggins 19:32, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Corrupted Dryads

Corrupted Tree Spirit
Well, I noted the MPQ related to the tree-shapped dryad have 2 versions, and are listed at the Ashenvale - Shrines section. One is the one showed at the photo in the article, the later is a corrupted version, perhaps affected by the Nightmare or by fel. (also, like the Felreaver doodads, these dryads got some bits of code speaking about animation like walk, run, walkbackwards, stand and shuffle). The tree spirits are listed as 'Dryad shrine' in Ashenvale's data, and they do fit the RPG description of Aessina's shrine.--SWM2448 22:44, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Actually it doesn't fit the RPG description of the Aessina's shrine. In the RPG her shrine is a pool and a statue. Nothing about female trees.Baggins 18:36, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Mage
ya its weird but it was given as one of the examples that a dryad could become, although most favor being "healers". I'm almost certain that mages would be the least likely class that a dryad would become. There is a bit more freedom in the RPG as far as classes a player can choose, and apparently there is no restriction against mage dryads. Although additionally it might be used as an explanation as to why they can dispel arcane attacks.Baggins 07:10, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Not dryads?
The text of 
[10-30] The Frozen Glade calls the Northrend dryads 'frost nymphs'. While this is an NPC (Frost Nymph) it seems to refer to all of the race.--SWM2448 00:56, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
