I have not fully explored Ashenvale with Herbalism, but Stranglekelp can be found in the waters along the Zoram Strand. Once you go south of this area, you will no longer find any. --Johndmann 17:52, 10 October 2006 (EDT)

Suspicions

Suggestions
Maybe we should put something in the article about the fact that the Horde seems to have advanced further into Ashenvale given what I saw from the screenshots of Cataclysm. Lckyluke372 (talk) 03:29, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Cataclysm
Two matters i would like to bring up...
- 1 How extensive is the deforesting of Ashenvale? Is it only really occuring in the west, or is this a zone-wide pandemic?
- 2 Is that Ashenvale at the end of the Cataclysm trailer, where they are revealing 'Archeology' sub-profession, or is it the revitalised Desolace. If it is Ashenvale, then that is a major geographical change.

After having a good look around, it appears from the screen shot that although the refuge and its immediate vicinity is deforested, the deforestation does not extend very far from the refuge in any direction. I am pleased the dammage is so nucleated, because mass deforestation would deminish the aesthetic value of the zone. gadget (talk) 06:05, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

Like i said, i travelled to the spot in the video ans scoped out the dammage limits. Beyond a (relativly) small area of devistation arround the lodge, i see no evidence of extensive dammage. This would make better sence than mass deforestation because too much land under friendly hode oddupation would just hinder quest progression. The fall of one night elf base would make more sence than 'much of the ancient forest', and there is no evidence of that scale of forest loss. If no one objects, i would change the wording to 'some new parts of the forest have fallen to the horde (with our only example) and these have been deforested' It gives a false impression to say it has been largely obliterated. gadget (talk) 02:25, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry for the confusion, I should have been a lot more specific. At 0:56 in that trailer, Ashenvale does not appear deforested... it appears burnt to a cinder by lava. This was in reference to landscape changes to the zone in general. --P.W (talk) 03:10, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

- Naturally. I was exaggerating for emphasis. ;) The point is, the landscape is getting hit -- not just by the Orcs, but the same malady afflicting the Barrens. In light of that, I think we can remove the "if any" clause from the Cata section. That was really my only (unclear) suggestion! --P.W (talk) 04:21, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
