Biography

2,800 BDP,[1] at the beginning of the Troll Wars, the order of rangers was founded to defend Quel'Thalas against the Amani trolls. Talanas Windrunner was the greatest of these early rangers. He was a master of archery and ranged combat who quickly rose through the ranks and was named the first ranger-general of Silvermoon for his valor. The leaders of Silvermoon commemorated the occasion by declaring that their champion be given a weapon befitting his new status. High elf weaponsmiths carved a bow from Thas'alah, the mother tree of the Eversong Woods, and enchanted it with the arcane waters of the Sunwell. Talanas was humbled by the gift and named it Thas'dorah, "Valor of the Forest".[2]

Talanas made good on his promise, using Thas'dorah to strike fear into the Amani and allowing the high elves to settle deeper into the forest. Talanas became a legend for his part in securing Quel'Thalas for future generations.[2] He once fought alongside Emmarel Shadewarden, a member of the Unseen Path, against an Amani incursion.[3]
