The Summertide Assaults were a series of large battles between the Undead Scourge and the Scarlet Crusade, which took place over the Scarlet Monastery in Tirisfal Glades. The battle's outcome signaled a major defeat for Scourge plans to seize the Monastery, with the Scarlet defenders maintaining control of the complex.

History

The Summertide Assaults marked a determined Scourge attempt to gain control of the Scarlet Monastery, headquarters of the Scarlet Crusade, likely in an attempt to eradicate the order.[1]

During the battle, a contingent of Scourge led by the powerful necromancer Diodor the Damned launched numerous attacks against their Scarlet Crusade adversaries. One of the first members of the Cult of the Damned, Diodor led the Scourge army to victory in first one, then two assaults on Scarlet forces, although the Monastery itself was not captured. During the first assault, High Abbot Ferren Marcus was slain in the Monastery's defense.[2]

By the time of the third and final Summertide Assault, Scarlet elements had succeeded in grasping Diodor's strategy. As a result, the Scourge were successfully repelled from the vicinity, and Diodor himself was killed in battle.

The Scourge army made no follow-up attempts to take the Scarlet Monastery.
