Stress test

Stress testing is the act of stressing various parts of software by putting heavy and increased load on inputs (large graphics, more operations, more users, etc.), constrained or reduced resources (low bandwidth, low memory, low storage, etc.), or operating on below recommended hardware (slow CPU, slow hard drive, etc).

Stress test invites are different than beta invites, and players invited for the stress test are typically only invited to the stress test and not the beta as well.[1] During the original World of Warcraft stress test, players that won the stress test contest were also invited into the closed beta test.

World of Warcraft: Classic

The World of Warcraft: Classic beta and stress tests were announced on 14 May 2019.[2]

There are three planned stress tests for Classic:

  • Stress Test 1: Wed May 22—Thurs May 23
  • Stress Test 2: Wed June 19—Thurs June 20
  • Stress Test 3: Thurs July 25—Fri July 26[3]

The level cap is set to five on the stress test realms. The test 3 dates were originally July 18-19.[4]
