Context
Stalvan Mistmantle was a teacher who fell in love with his student Tilloa. After he saw Tilloa with her betrothed he went into a rage and killed them both, and her whole family. While he was not aware of it, Stalvan's wish would actually come true when the Scourge slaughtered the mages and Archimonde tore the city to the ground.

The coin as well as his presence in Old Hillsbrad Foothills suggests that he came to Dalaran to find some way to make Tilloa love him, but was unable to convince any mages to help him in his morally questionable search.
