Sheilun was the son of the pandaren revolutionary leader Kang.[1] The mogu emperor at the time, Lao-Fe the Slavebinder, favored punishing his pandaren slaves by separating them from their families, sending the children of disfavored pandaren to the Serpent's Spine wall to die as fodder for the mantid swarms, and such was the fate that befell Sheilun. Kang was so grief-stricken over the loss of his cub that he chose to wear all black. However, in a moment of clarity, he realized that the mogu's strength was entirely reliant on slave labor. Soon, he began training other slaves in the martial arts. History does not report if Sheilun died at the Serpent's Spine or if Kang got to see his son again[2] before dying in battle killing Emperor Lao-Fe,[3] but it was this father's love that sparked the rebellion that would change the face of Pandaria forever.[2]

Kang named his staff, carved from the wood of the resilient trees of Kun-Lai, after Sheilun.[1]
