Sarcen Stone is contained in Ancient Stone Cask in Lake Mennar in Azshara.

It is an arcane stone charged and used by the night elf mages of Mennar Academy during the War of the Ancients to redirect ley lines, trying to draw energy away from the Well of Eternity, which the Burning Legion was using to invade Azeroth.[1] After being used, Archmage Selwyn sent Kalytha to hide it from demons and Queen Azshara at the bottom of Lake Mennar under the center arch.[2]

Malynea Skyreaver knows sarcen stones from legends,[3] and her agents found that the reason why the blue dragons are drawn to the area is a Sacren Stone.[1]

Notes and trivia

  • While H [5-30] Memories of the Dead and H [5-30] Mystery of the Sarcen Stone mentioned one stone used at the academy, Exploring Azeroth mentions a Sarcen Stone,[1] so it is possible that the academy used more of them.
    • It would also explain the Cataclysm quest item and the one that is still drawing the blue dragons to the area after the Fourth War.
    • Alternatively, it could mean that there is only one and that the quest item was never delivered, making the delivery in Mystery of the Sarcen Stone non-canon.
  • It might be named in reference to the Arkenstone from The Hobbit, though Sarsen is a word for a building material of pagan shrines in England.
