Runecarver's Oubliette
Map of Runecarver's Oubliette.

The Runecarver's Oubliette is a part of Torghast, Tower of the Damned where the Runecarver is imprisoned, accessed from a side corridor at the entrance of the Torghast Antechamber. It is initially sealed off by a Domination Lock, but players gain access to it during the Maw storyline in N [60] Prison of the Forgotten.

The oubliette consists of a large platform floating above a misty abyss, surrounded by six gigantic and evenly spaced statues. The Runecarver is held by three massive chains tied to the statues. Shortly after gaining access to him, the Maw Walker breaks one of the chains, and the Runecarver returns the favor by crafting legendary armor. At the center of the platform is a dial mechanism with runes of Domination, which light up and rotate whenever the Runecarver creates a legendary item for the Maw Walkers.

During the Chains of Domination campaign, players find the broker Ve'nish somewhere in the tower. He has crafted the Box of Many Things, but realizes that he is incapable of using it. In his dying act, he hands it over to the Maw Walker, who brings it to the oubliette.

  • Eric Braddock designed the rune ring, among other Torghast assets.
