Raiding guild

Raiding guilds are player-made social organizations known for frequently taking on the largest and most difficult raid encounters in the game. While raids can be challenged by any pickup group group of at least 10 members, a raiding guild provides a social space for guild members to consistently gather, slay bosses, and gain loot, and make long-lasting friends.

While called a raiding guild, most raiding guilds won't only raid together, and will use the already existing social connections and communication channels to plan mythic+ runs and PvP groups as well.

Characteristics of raid guilds
  • Typically contain around 15+ members, most of whom are at the current level cap, and ranging from moderate to high in skill level.
  • They often recruit players with the intent of adding them to the raid roster – this normally means a dedicated time to meet and raid.
    • They will often recruit for players playing specific roles (like just a healer), but sometimes for players playing specific classes or specializations.
    • Guilds vary in their commitment levels, with some meeting as little as once a week for two hours, while others may gather up to three times a week, each raid session lasting three hours.
  • Founders and core members, including the Guild leader, tend to be hardcore players.
    • They often hold designated roles within the guild, like of a "raid leader", "officer", or "loot master".
    • These often coincide with important in-game roles, like of the main tank.
  • Having preplanned systems for distributing loot acquired from raids in the hopes of avoiding loot drama.
