Psyfiend is a Shadow priest PvP talent, available at level 40. It summons a Psyfiend beside the player with a 12-second duration, attacking an enemy with Psyflay.

Notes

  • The Psyfiend is stationary and cannot pursue targets that move out of range.
  • Unlike the [Shadowfiend], the Psyfiend is not under the direct control of the priest and cannot be commanded to change its target.
  • Against non-player targets, Psyflay's damage is based off the Priest's maximum health.

Tips and tactics

  • Since the Psyfiend's Psyflay has a 40-yard range, priests can make the most of its presence by staying within range as much as possible.
  • The Psyfiend can be cast while moving. This makes it possible to use Psyfiend to slow targets that are fleeing.

Patch changes

  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Psyfiend's Psyflay ability now deals up to 1% of the target's maximum health, down from 2%.
  • Legion Patch 7.2.0 (2017-03-28): Psyfiend can no longer be targeted by using target macros.
  • Legion Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Psyfiend can no longer be affected by [Power Word: Shield]. Undocumented.
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Re-added as an honor talent for Shadow Priests and redesigned.
Previous talent: Summons a Psyfiend that stands in place for 10 sec. The Psyfiend casts a Psychic Terror on a nearby enemy within 20 yards every 2 sec, preferring anything attacking the Priest. Psychic Terror causes enemies to flee for 30 sec. Damage caused may interrupt the effect.
  • Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Removed.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.4.0 (2013-09-10): No longer benefits from Haste, and its health has been reduced by 75%, but fixed a bug where Psyfiend wasn't being affected by base Resilience.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.2.0 (2013-03-05): Pysfiend belonging to an individual Priest will no longer cast Psychic Horror [sic] on the same target twice.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.1.0 (2012-11-27): Psyfiend's Psychic Terror cast time has been increased to 2 seconds, up from 1.5 seconds. The Psyfiend's health has been reduced to 10% of the controlling Priest's health, down from 30%.
  • Mists of Pandaria Hotfix (2012-09-28): A priest's psyfiend's Psychic Terror should no longer affect targets under a Rogue's Smoke Bomb.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Added.
