Ponoliak was a tuskarr chieftain of Iskaara and the Iskaara Tuskarr in the Azure Span. He knew about Glimcoves, better known as ley lines[2] and was a mentor to Brena.[1] By the time of the war against the Primalists, Ponoliak died, simply of old age[3] and was succeeded as chieftain by Brena.
She led a caravan through the Span to collect his most prized possessions for his funeral.[4] The caravan was ambushed by Shadepaw gnolls who took the items and scattered, Brena and her companions were helped by an adventurer and Kalecgos who recovered the stolen items,[5] saved whoever they could, aided the tuskarr to face problems with the Brackenhides being corrupted by decay magic, and eventually successfully delivered the caravan back to Iskaara.[1] Once the final objects from the town's inhabitants have been collected, they were placed on a funerary boat, next to the body of Ponoliak,[6] and prepared for the celebration of the Cycle of the Sea. The villagers gathered by the coast, and the adventurer pushed Ponoliak's boat out to the sea, with the spirit of Gral welcoming the old chieftain, much to the tuskarr's delight.[3]
