Notes

  • Available in the top section and requiring a shortest path of at least 4 specialization-tree talent points, the earliest level it can be unlocked is level 17.

Trivia

  • If a Priest uses the Shadowform spell in Hearthstone, their Hero Power will transform from Lesser Heal to Mind Spike. Using Shadowform a second time will cause Mind Spike to transform into "Mind Shatter", which deals an extra point of damage.

Patch changes

  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2023-07-24): Damage increased by 12%. Does not apply to PvP Combat.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2023-06-26): Damage increased by 10%.
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.1.0 (2023-05-02):
    • Damage increased by 9% and now replaces [Mind Flay]. Moved to row 5 (was row 4).
    • Damage is now increased by 30% in PvP combat (was 25%).
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2023-01-09):
    • Damage increased by 15%.
    • Damage reduced by 25% in PvP Combat.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2022-12-19): Damage increased by 20%.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2022-12-05): Mind Spike now correctly has a visual when damaging enemies.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2022-11-01): Damage increased by 10%.
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Re-added as a row 4 Shadow talent (was a level 100 Shadow talent). No longer replaces Mind Flay or deals additional damage with [Mind Blast].
  • Legion Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Removed.
  • Legion Hotfix (2016-09-26): Mind Spike damage increased by 28%.
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Redesigned. Changed from a level 44 ability to level 100 talent. Assail the target with shadowy spikes, dealing (44.8% of spell power) Shadowfrost damage and leaving a spike embedded in their mind. Mind Blast will detonate these spikes, each dealing 200% of their original damage to the main target, and 100% to all nearby targets.
    Previous: Blasts the target with Shadowfrost damage, but extinguishes your Shadow damage-over-time effects from the target in the process.
  • Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.2.2 (2015-09-01): Now deals 10% more damage. In PvP combat, Mind Spike now deals 10% less damage.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Now a level 44 Shadow specialization ability (was a level 81 ability for all priests). No longer increases critical strike chance of Mind Blast.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.1.0 (2011-04-26): Casting an instant Mind Blast immediately following a Mind Spike should no longer cause Mind Blast to not benefit from the last cast of Mind Spike.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Mind Spike can now trigger [Chakra: Chastise].
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Added.
