Taruka facing the monster in the strait.

Lyquokk Strait is a waterway some three days' voyage south of Kamagua on the western coast of the Howling Fjord. It separates Praak Island from the mainland. The tuskarr have typically not sailed through it since they know that "There is death there" and have instead taken the longer way around the island.

Harooka warned the young fisher Taruka not to sail through the strait on her way to Kamagua, but Taruka became suspicious and concluded that the other fishers were simply trying to keep her away from a prime fishing spot. She thus steered directly into the strait but saw no signs of fish anywhere. After an hour of sailing, when she judged that she must be halfway up the strait, her boat was attacked by a monstrous sea creature, and she realized the reason for Harooka's warning. However, she ultimately managed to kill the beast and use its corpse as makeshift vessel the rest of the way to Kamagua.[1]
