James was a human from Lordaeron who fought during the Third War. He took a part in the Culling of Stratholme but eventually ran away for he could not take the slaughter. He was trying to reach his wife and children through unsafe roads.[1]

He could be Footman James, a soldier appearing in the Culling of Stratholme dungeon. Both are soldiers of Lordaeron that served in Prince Arthas' troops around the time of the Culling, and he happens to be in the same building as Footman Maxwell, another soldier of Lordaeron who shares a name with Maxwell, another soldier of Lordaeron who was in Prince Arthas' troops during his expedition to Northrend.
