Jai'alator ("noble blade of Elune" in Darnassian)[1] is the hippogryph of Shandris Feathermoon, general of the Sentinels. Jai'alator is described as "a large male hippogryph with a plumage more striking than other hippogryphs, darker and more dramatic feathers, as well as crimson lines across the ebony wings and slight turquoise markings on the upper edges. Crimson feathers also lined the otherwise blue-black head".

History

Stormrage

WoW-novel-logo-16x62.png This section concerns content related to the Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

Shandris allowed the high priestess Tyrande Whisperwind to ride the noble hippogryph on her quest to find out what have happened to Malfurion Stormrage. "Jai" served the high priestess well and flew her to Auberdine, but the village had already fallen prey to the Emerald Nightmare's recent attack. Both Tyrande and "Jai" were attacked just moments later, and although the high priestess managed to flee with the help of Lucan Foxblood, the noble hippogryph was taken by the deep sleep of the Nightmare.[2]

Battle for Azeroth

Battle for Azeroth This section concerns content related to Battle for Azeroth.

Shandris rode Jai'alator to the middle of the Great Sea to confront the Horde san'layn, Blood Prince Dreven.[3]

Following this, Jai'atalor can be seen resting below deck on the Wind's Redemption with Shandris.

Trivia

  • Jai'alator's model does not match his physical description given in Stormrage. The reason for this is likely that the hippogryph model closest to his coloration is of too low graphical quality, and so Blizzard might've chosen a more recent model instead, despite the colors.
  • When Shandris accompanies the player on quests, she uses Jai'alator as her flying mount.
