The Iron Crucible is an area within the Halls of Lightning, overseen by the fire giant Volkhan, it's where creatures not affected by the Curse of Flesh were forged for Loken's army.[1]
At the time of the war against the Lich King, Volkhan worked many days and nights here to create golems to further the numbers of Loken's armies, and was considered a threat to the existence of the Sons of Hodir who ordered his death.[2]
Following the war against the Jailer, the brothers Bronzebeard visited the Iron Crucible, among them Brann Bronzebeard got in a long conversation here with an unnamed female iron dwarf, now the new overseer in charge of the area since the demise of Volkhan.[1]
