The Heart-Shaped Box container appears in the bags of level 60 and higher players, after completing killing Apothecary Hummel during Love is in the Air boss encounter for the daily Looking For Dungeon quest. Players below those levels (from 1-59) will instead be awarded the  [Heart-Shaped Carton].

Tracking quest

To check whether Hummel has been killed today, copy and paste this command into the chat window:

/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(25485))

If a "true" appears in the chat window, Hummel has been killed today; "false" indicates the opposite.

Trivia

• Valentines Day chocolates are usually sold in a heart-shaped box. It also could be a reference to Nirvana's song "Heart-Shaped Box".

Patch changes

• Patch 5.1.0 (2012-11-27): Upgraded from rare to epic quality.
  
• Patch 4.3.0 (2011-11-29): Now also contains 5-10 Love Tokens.
  
• Hotfix (2011-06-29): Satchel of Chilled Goods, Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest, Heart-Shaped Box, and Loot-Filled Pumpkin will no longer remain in character inventory once the associated holiday is over. Players must loot the items from these caches before the corresponding holiday ends. More information can be found here.
