If you look at the second paragraph of Onyxia's Lair you'll find an assertion that it was one of only two raids available when the game was released (the other being Molten Core), followed by an inappropriately-inserted comment disputing that.

Before I remove the comment, I was hoping to clarify which was true. According to Wowwiki's archive of patch notes, Onyxia's Lair was released in Patch 1.1.0 (as was Molten Core). But was "1.1.0" the version number of the initial release of the game, or the first patch *after* the release? And even if they were added after release, were they still the first two raids in the game? Can anyone clarify this or provide references? Thanks :) --w.woods (talk) 05:41, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

According to this page both, Onyxia's Lair and Molten Core, were present since the open beta of World of Warcraft.

I'm not sure about patch 1.1.0 as being the first or second but in the same page there is a link to the last beta update release: [1], which is Patch 0.12, and then the next update announced is the Patch 1.2, so I suppose that Patch 1.1 was the released version of World of Warcraft. Even the patch notes that you referenced say: During the beta testing there will be a temporary placeholder vendor who sells keys to Onyxia’s lair for testing purposes.; meaning that she was present since the beta. Thanks, that does sound convincing. Though I assumed "during the beta testing" referred to the beta testing of the patch rather than the original game. Maybe I read that wrong :) --w.woods (talk) 12:46, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

It was beta testing for the game; they didn't start doing PTRs until Dire Maul came out in... I think it was 1.3. And even then, it was only open to people with level 55+ characters. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:49, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure they even had PTRs that early. The first test client build listed on Public client builds is for 1.11 Kirkburn  talk  contr 00:14, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
