So the new Trial of the Crusader instance provides us with a dilemma: the Heroic drops have the same names as the normal drops, but with upgraded stats and "Heroic" in the tooltip. Since this is brand new, and there is no precedent for how to handle this, everyone is picking their own method and it's getting ridiculous how many different ways it's done. I've seen "Item Name (245)" and "Item Name (258)," "Item Name (normal)" and "Item Name (heroic)," "Item Name" and "Heroic Item Name," and "Item Name" and "Item Name (heroic)."

What we need is to formally decide on a convention and apply it across the board, and quickly, because Heroic modes are active now and the loot is being dropped.

Personally, my suggestion is to have "Item Name" for the normal versions and "Item Name (heroic)" for the Heroic versions, with a disambig note at the top of the page. What does everyone else think? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 00:24, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

But then not all are heroic... you have the 10man version and the 25man version, so technically normal/normal, which is why some people are doing by the item level. We could do Item Name (10man), Item Name (25man), or go by the name of the instance it comes from (which could get long)... Item Name (Trial of the Crusader). But 10/25 isn't normal/heroic anymore. It's 10-man normal, 10-man heroic, 25-man normal, and 25-man heroic. The items are DIFFERENT between 10 and 25, but IDENTICAL between their respective normal/heroic modes. For example, Acidmaw Treads and Acidmaw Treads (heroic) are both from 10-man, while Ring of the Darkmender and Ring of the Darkmender (heroic) are both from 25-man. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 05:36, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
Yea... I know 10/25 isn't normal/heroic anymore, I'm guessing you didn't understand what I said... but looking back, seems wowhead has wrong info... using  [Satrina's Impeding Scarab] as the example it shows it from Champions' Cache from Trial of the Champion (the 10man) and an improved item is from Trial of the Crusader (the 25man), so thats why I said what I said... but yea, Item Name (normal) and Item Name (heroic) should be fine. I would actually prefer just Item Name and Item Name (heroic) so that we don't have to have separate disambig pages. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 06:07, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

I noticed someone has starting moving the loot pages to (245) and (258). Can we push a vote for this so we can establish something official, quickly, so that we don't have a bunch of different people doing different things? It will be easiest to convert everything now, with so many pages still uncreated, than later when everything's made and organized in twenty different ways. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:05, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

As a side note, both Wowhead and the armory only distinguish between the versions by stats and item level in their tooltips. Blizzard should know better rather than being so lame and causing such confusion. We should set an example and put the normal/heroic tags in our {{tooltip}}. --Gengar orange 22x22.pngBeware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:43 PM PST 4 Sep 2009

  5. C -- Harveydrone 16:20, September 10, 2009 (UTC) - (Would have preferred a single page for both versions, but this is my favorite out of these 3, and avoids the dreaded useless disambig page.)

As fun as it is to wait months and months for a vote like this to officially pass... We need a clear decision before the pages start getting mass produced... so... I declare the official unofficial winner Option C. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 18:32, September 6, 2009 (UTC)
